I'm adding up the evidence. We already know he's been lying, possibly for 3 years. So ask yourself, of what benefit does/did that do for him?

He CONTINUALLY talked about how her, her family, etc supported him, how he's using this tragedy to motivate him, etc.......he embellished and added to the initial lie that she even existed.

So, at some base level, he had to know. I don't see how any sane, rational person can conclude he wasn't in the know on this. It's gone on for far too long to be believable on his part that he was completely in the dark, and he's added too much personally on top of the initial lie.
