Interesting. I thought, it being the Flyers, that the "G" spot might have just been left empty.

:omg:

Okay that is pathetic I'd goo for some players that were basically spent when they came here and insert Reinhart &Messier for Ohlund and Mogilny add a couple we shouldn't have let go in Neely and Dailey for Daniel and Lumme. People wonder here in YVR why we have had no kickass teams and the lack of EVER having a #1 D-man ( Reinhart was just a shell of his peak years by the time he got here still better than more than a handful of d-men that graced our city) Out of almost 400 draft picks that is pathetic

Bower give me a break lets go way back and take the Turk Tim Horton it's defenseman not coffee shop Turnbull or McKenny Although I was surprised to find out TimmyHo is # 3 in points as a Leaf D-man

The thread title said history (not recent history), therefore I can pick who I chose. Turnbull wouldn't be a bad choice; Mckenny -- meh. I could also argue defencemen, not bad actors with Mckenny...lol

And Conacher was a farther leap back than Bower, FYI.

Lidster was a steady player, but not much more than that.
Dennis Kearns or Harold Snepts would fit that bill as well.
Not enough oomph to be on best ever list

I considered Jovanovski over Lumme though.

What are you talking about? Messier was never a Canuck.
Lalala I CAN'T HEAR YOU..............

I wanted to get Gradin on my list somehow. He was my favorite player when I was a kid.

I left out Red Kelly. He could easily go in over both D choices.

Turk Broda whom I thought was the top Leaf keeper was a bit before Bower

Fair enough.

TBH, I actually considered Turk Broda as well, but in the end, I went with Bower for his '67 cup win (and 3 previous Stan Cups) with a team that wasn't ranked to do too much.
