The thing is that Serena is able to overpower the current crop with an intimidating physique and powerful strokes. A lot is made about her serve but if someone is able to neutralize her power game with strategy then they can take her down on any surface, this is because women game rarely goes beyond 10shots. Whoever can dominate within the 10 shot rally normally beats the other player.

Federer had a genius unfathomable game not just a powerful serve and a few hard hit shots like Serena. I think you are confusing the two. The rest of the field caught up with him only after age slowed him down

Sampras dominated with serve and a volley he could back it with, he didn't have enough ground game like Fed hence could never win the French.

Yes, it's a big part of the game. Roger was the greatest player I've ever seen. He had a decent serve but not overpowering. He was simply the best player after the serve. The best ever and not even close in my mind.

Is Shaq the greatest center of all time? No, he's not. He's the most dominant because he had unprecedented size and athleticism to boot. He isn't top 100 in skill.

Are you kidding me? Federer had it and Serena didn't? She got to 17 slams by luck? Therefore when Federer was winning the rest of the tour sucked because he had a game none of them had,, right?
