Yes, it's a big part of the game. Roger was the greatest player I've ever seen. He had a decent serve but not overpowering. He was simply the best player after the serve. The best ever and not even close in my mind.

Is Shaq the greatest center of all time? No, he's not. He's the most dominant because he had unprecedented size and athleticism to boot. He isn't top 100 in skill.

And what exactly does that mean in relationship to Serena? I am at a loss how you are denigrating Serena. You do not win 17 grand slams and many titles by being one-dimensional or lacking skills. The comparison with Shaq is ridiculous.

I loved Pete make no mistake. I was a huge fan and even played with his racquet and cheered for him to win a French every time he played. But he lost against nobodies (actually clay specialists), but Federer lost only against the greatest ever on clay namely Nasal. If not for Nadal Fed would have won the grand slam twice ( all four in the same year).

Is that not the same silly excuse they give to denigrate Graf? In sport could have and would have do not cut it. So stop it!

Are you kidding me? Federer had it and Serena didn't? She got to 17 slams by luck? Therefore when Federer was winning the rest of the tour sucked because he had a game none of them had,, right?
The rest of the field caught up with Serena even during her prime before, and now because she is aging. But frankly they really didn't have to climb that kind of Federesque heights. 17 slams is impressive but she should have had more because the field she faced was pathetic take away a couple of players like Hein and Klijsters

I was cherry picking your idea of serving dominance. Serena is a great player. I don't dislike her to the extent that I cannot respect her game. I don't like her incessant whining and excuses. I'm not going to post links for you. Google it. She is a sore loser, an ungracious winner and an overall stigma to the game.

How long have you followed tennis? You cannot give an example of any whining, excuses or being a sore loser. It is in the figment of your imagination. You have said the same thing about both Serena and Venus before in another thread. You were unable to give any factual evidence except repeat the same thing. I am not so sure your animus towards Serena, but it mind-boggling that you continue to repeat the same thing over and over again without any facts backing them up.

In 2013, Serena won 78-4. Only the great Martina and Steffi, had a better winning record. How did the rest of the field catch up with Serena? I am beginning to stop taking you serious on this tennis board.

The fact that you need facts is what is mind boggling. I've been watching tennis since the 80's. Graf and Fed are my favorite players. Gracious winners and utterly elite players. If you want me to provide links to what everybody already knows, I will. Just not right now. I'll post them tomorrow.

I'm assuming that you base my disdain off skin color. You wouldn't be you if that wasn't the case.

Go back and you will hear facts. In fact youtube is there for people to see whether they are sore losers or not. You need to give an example to buttress your point. More often than not such assertions can be laid at the doorsteps of bias and hatred towards a player. I never said anything about skin color? You stated this excuse thing that is perplexing because there is no evidence that Serena had given any excuse for her loss. The fact that you come on the tennis board to complain about Serena;'s excuses when she has not given one gives any rational person a pause. What the hell is going on?

Google and youtube are your friend, RoboticDreams. It should not take you tomorrow to find any. By the way here is what Serena the one you claim is a sore loser said after the match;

"Again, I don't want to blame anything. I feel like Ana deserves all the credit," Williams added. "I feel she played unbelievable today. I think she went for her shots. It's not like I gave her the match."

You can't find one single instance of her making an excuse for losing? Dude, that's all she ever does. I've watched almost every major since I was a child. When she loses, she's ungracious. I hate that nonsense. I can't stand poor sportsmanship. That's me. That's why I don't like her. That's it.

I don't follow it all that closely, but I just watched her talking about her bad back and how she needs a few days off in the post-match interview, fwiw.

For me the epitome of her unsportsmanlike behavior was when she threatened the lineswoman in front of the homecrowd. It was like roidrage tarnishing her so called 'champion' label forever. Hingis' 99 FO tantrum is tame compared to that. Real champions and legends don't do that sort of thing.

I doubt her opponents are intimidated by her 'physique.' She is overweight and that is why you attack her by making her run. Carrying that excess weight is a hindrance and it showed.

I don't think it is her fitness. I remember her wining an AO a ways back when she was a total Moo cow. The linespeople were standing behind her for shade that's how big she was and she still won.

She is getting old and the aches and pains that come with that is enough to stop anyone on any given day especially in extreme weather.

It will only get worse with time. She will win less and less. Time catches up with everyone. Everyone!

The problem lies with her fans who can't seem to accept it. You have to put in the work like Federer is doing on the practice courts even at this age and against youngsters. She has it easier than Fed because the rest of the field is so bad. In men's tennis if you are slightly off you can lose to someone in top 100.

So Serena lost. All champions lose some time. She obviously had an issue of some kind because she never plays like this unless she is injured. She could have chickened out of the match and admitted it but she played on. Her weight has nothing to do with anything now or in the past. To call her names and say it is her weight doesn't make sense. Why are other champions congratulated and praised and not Serena? The woman has proven herself. All she needs to do now is play the rest of career out and go out in all of her tennis glory regardless what jealous people think of her. Recognize her greatness and stop the jealousy. It does not take anything away from Serena Williams. Give her credit and stop the madness. Others are praised for their greatness, why not Serena? I don't care what any of you think of my comments, but in your heart, you know this is true. Think about it. I read one thread wherein she was called a moo cow, really that is a jealous call for sure. No human being is a moo cow. That statement rings with hate. Stop the insanity please and see her as a human champion. It will do your heart good, try it and see.

Serena has a volatile game that is prone to mistake-ridden matches, but instead of recognizing that maybe she has a risky game and misses some days, there is always an excuse. She can blame her back all she wants, but she just doesn't have consistency (healthy or not) like the all-time greats.

Between the ages of 21 and 30, here is the ratio of grand slams where elites have reached the semis:

Court: 25/30
King: 21/28
Evert: 29/30
Navratilova: 28/34
Graf: 33/36*
Williams: 17/30

*Because she started so much younger (she was a full-time pro at 14) and retired earlier, I shifted her prime years down a bit. For the rest of them, their 20s could easily be described as their prime.

Whether it is because of her era or her game, she needs to recognize that she loses before the semis a hell of a lot, and she needs to stop making excuses. If you lose early 10% of the time, you have a fair argument that it was the injury. When you do it around 50% of the time, you can't always pretend it's some compete anomaly.

too bad serena got hurt

pretty obvious to anybody who plays tennis that she wasn't able to get full range of motion on her serve or backhand. the only people who don't understand this are either fatass couch potatoes who get their "exercise" by typing on here, or the most casual of casual tennis fans.

she's what, 32 now? not totally unexpected that she'd get injured with the crazy weather shifts
