MC you made some great points, but I pulled this one out.

We may be over simplifying, but I think the coaching staff is trying to get the players out this funk of not scoring. The bounces on most of nights haven't gone our way.

I said it before and will say it again, we have the chicken and egg theory here with confidence and scoring....
Is it confident because you're scoring goals or you're scoring goals because you're confident. It's a catch 22 here!

The confidence of our offense is lacking and when that happens you tend to find players doing to much and trying to pick corners etc., which only carries their confidence further in the gutter. This is why I believe the coaches are telling the players to keep shooting and drive the net for the rebounds. Eventually the goals will start coming and players won't be squeezing the sticks as much. Once the goals start coming, the confidence will come back and this team, I assure you, will be playing much diffenent and loose. They would then show why the reporters, analysts and hockey gurus were picking the devils to be a major contender in the east.

The article on Lou was a great read and he does have some tough decisions in the coming future should the ship not right itself.

I agree with everything you said, my only concern is there not driving for the rebounds when they should be. It's certainly frustrating to watch a team whose top 6 (with parise present) should be able to compete with anyone in the league, look totally anemic.

I still think that people claiming Lou is asleep at the wheel are woefully misunderstanding the situation.

Get this man a cookie. Or a beer. There are certain things Lou can control. Good players sucking is not one of those things.

listen i understand he cant control people sucking...BUT he is the man that put this roster together...hes the man that got himself into this situation by giving away NTC to these players...hes the one that hires/fires the coaches 10 coaches in 10 years? sorry but somewhere along the line just like ANY job when you keep failing you need to do something take the blame! to me yes not getting out of the 1st round in 3 years or out of the 2nd round in 7 thats failing...because you only have (as is evident this year) so many years when you will be a legit team...you have to make them count!!!!!!

I'm done with this: Let's look at all these crippling NTC.

First, there are only two NMC on this team. There's a huge difference. If the Devils wanted they could put any player in the minors they want except for Kovalchuk and Elias.

Regarding the other NTCs. Langenbrunner is our captain, and signed for nothing. Arnott wasn't signed by Lou and has 1 year left.

White was given on under the assumption he could succeed in the new NHL, which hasn't been the great deal everyone hoped, but the contract looks better in terms of cap hit with each passing year.

Volchenkov's was obviously part of the deal to lure him to NJ and keep his number as low as possible.

I won't even get into the goalies because they're irrelevant.

Rolston's NTC doesn't make any difference, because the problem is the 35+ contract, not the NTC.

So your assumptions about the NTCs crippling this team are wrong.
