It's kinda funny that he's making his list and gillis hasn't even asked him to wave his no trade

sounds like his agent is pushing this and forcing things fast.
we will learn of the teams he puts in his list before long
Dan Murphy and others are reporting that TB and Toronto will both be on it.
that's enough for a bidding war, anyways
though Burke overvalues his assets (players or picks) something fierce, so I'd sure like to see another realistic entry on the list.
Tallon vs Yzerman, with Burke in the mix to spice things up.
I really don't want Luongo. I want the Leafs to suck for at least another year so that the possibility of eradicating Burke becomes greater. Burke will probably bite though and offer this years top 5 pick for Luongo.
And why would Luongo want to come to Toronto? He must know there's nothing but disaster ahead for at least 2 more years?
I don't understand why Florida would want Luongo. They have Theodore, Clemenson & Jacob Markstrom is one of the best goalie prospects in the entire league.
He likes their goalie coach & Nonis is the guy who acquired him for Vancouver.
Tallon has had a hard-on for Luongo for quite some time now.
He could easily push Clemenson / Theodore out of the way, but yes, Markstrom would be in the same situation as Schneider in a couple of years.
If Lou has a 2 or 3 year deal, that's an ideal mentorship, but 6 years left at a hefty #1 salary means you will need to do some planning.
That's it?
Not sure if Allaire will be around much longer and Nonis is the guy responsible for bringing him into a situation he probably now wants out of; why would he want much more of Nonis?
I still think the reasons he wouldn't want to be in Toronto greatly outweigh tenuous reasons he would want to join the Leafs.
He's still a talented and competitive guy.
probably sees Toronto as a place where he could really make a difference.
knows management, knows the goalie coach, and more importantly knows that getting them TO the playoffs wold be a major victory, whereas in Vancouver anything less than a Cup is failure.

there also is the little issue of Brian Burke not viewing the long term contracts as good for hockey ... does he go back on his "principles"

Meh, that can be easily spun by Burkie (he is inheriting somebody else's cap circumvention contract). In his mind, I don't think he would see it as going back on his "principles".
doesnt he want to win a cup first and foremost though?
