That is the thing 43 it can be moved however we just don't expect much in return

yup dont let my signature line fool you ... if we can avoid a bad contract it would be gravy ... the value of the cap savings is the most important thing

and when you have fan bases salivating for a new perceived goaltending saviour they can nickname (like some leafs fans and media are as we speak) there might be a bigger demand afterall

who, coincidentally, is on the list of those speculated to be interested in this 10 yr deal.
for the record, i don't think Lou's contract is as bad as generally reported.
4 years at $6.7m, then drops significantly in a hurry. the last couple are throwaway (ie. retirement) years.

Luongo for Johansen and CBJ's first pick in 2012?

:ss:

actual dollars out for that contract over the rest of that remaining term is 4.72 mill so some cheap owner out there who needs to hit the cap floor but doesnt want to spend actual money might like that

you want bad contract ... Cam Ward ... stinky :painkiller:

the leafs fanboys are already doing the math

Without getting into the contract and so on (it is a factor, of course), here's why the Toronto Maple Leafs would consider Roberto Luongo: Over the last three seasons, Luongo's save percentage is .920.

By inserting that into Toronto's lineup in 2011-2012 for 60 games, with the Leafs allowing an average of 30.8 shots against (same as Vancouver, incidentally), then Toronto, with no change in performance (ie. 900 SV%) from James Reimer in the remaining games, would allow 2.55 goals against per game, down from 3.16 per game in 2011-2012.

That difference of .61 goals per game, over 82 games, amounts to a 50-goal difference. Adding 50 goals onto Toronto's 2011-2012 goal differential would have the Leafs at a plus-17, which would be better than six of this year's playoff teams

Oh yeaaahhhh... Because I'm sure that Lou would put up a .920 SPCT behind Mike Komisarek, Dion Phaneuf and John-Michael Liles just the same as he did behind Hamhuis, Bieksa and those two red-headed aliens that always seem to have the puck.

:burt: at the Toronto media.

:ss:

I'm not too old to find you, son.

It would be a terrible move on the Blue Jackets part for a number of reasons. First among them, in my mind at least, is that they should be looking for a younger guy to grow with the team. I would MUCH rather see a Lehner, Holtby, Bernier or Elliott come to Columbus than Luongo. Lehner with Mason backing up would be like a dream to me.

Next year is a transition year, and while there were positive signs at the end of this year, it will get rocky and rough. I don't want to pay a guy to sit here next year and have a tough time before things get better the year after next unless he's got some years left in the tank when it looks up.

Realistically, Lou has two/three good years left in him before he hits that age 36 goalie wall. Next year is likely a washout. And what's left after that?
