I kinda feel bad for Schneider. Not that I think he can't be a star, but it is going to be one of the most high pressure situations on the planet to come into. Especially if Luongo is falling on his sword to make way for him. Nothing but an all-star season and deep playoff run will be considered good enough. And he'll be having to do it in a really hockey mad city with a crazy press corp.

Ask Jocelyn Thibault what that's like.

Vancouver has worked long and hard to be known as a "Goalie Graveyard"

everything we've seen from Schneider is that he is absolutely cool as a cucumber.
and he came to the team with a pretty big fanfare, and had some shaky starts to begin his career. was unflappable then, and has dealt with all of the 'controversy' pretty well. very intelligent, and very well spoken.
In hindsight, looking at how he was thrown the biggest games this season (it was a big deal that he got the Boston road game, for example) he has been pretty carefully groomed for this.

six years is a pretty good run for this town.

My only thing to say is trade him if you can get what you want, not what you can get.

lol at Falling on his sword. such a dramatic statement

sadly the writing was on the wall for Luongo with game 3,4 and 5 going to Cory so Luongo answers a question that he can't win with and if he doesnt answer he gets lambasted and when he does people jump to these statements.

- falling on his sword
- no balls
- bad attitude

can't win if he talks can't win if he doesnt. dont feel bad for Cory as well if he gets the starter job here. he's as mentioned in another post very cool in these pressure situations. he will get a 4 year grace period like Luongo did then the media and fans will turn

anyway

chicago
tampa bay
toronto
florida
new jersey

are all teams that Darren Dreger thinks could take Luongo . Hahahah can you imagine Luongo GOING to Chicago holy fuck Darren cmon man.

Aaron Ward thinks Tampa Bay is best solution and so do I. good team bad goaltending no prospects. get luongo and then they can get a prospect and luongo can groom him.

if Luongo went to Detroit and Lidstrom decided to not retire for one more shot and they won the cup with him as starter all would say that it was the team in front of him even though Howard has not won them a cup as starter either.

Ergo Luongo = Chris Osgood?!?

There aren't too many teams that are going to take him on...but I think Tampa would be the best fit. He needs that lower expectation environment. Him in Montreal would be terrifying.

like a lot of people I dont believe Osgood got as much credit for his career as he should have. especially for the cup wins that he started for. guy was clutch when you needed most for any team stacked or not you still have to stop the puck and Osgood did a plenty.

...for him. If there's ONE city with HIGHER expectations than Vancouver, it's Montreal. I wouldn't be scared of the team with him, just know it'd be a terrible ending.

I agree with you matty, I saw Osgood make some key saves when called upon, Ken Dryden didn't see a lot of rubber, but he came up big for the Hasb when it was needed.

yeah I can agree. I think him being from Montreal would help tremendously more-so than Vancouver. but he won't go there. they won't give up Price who has quite a bit of age on Luongo to start and he's pretty good when he's on

Yeh he never recieved the stats due to the shot on goal average when with the Wings it's not that he didn't work. Also Chris reinvented his style of play well into what was becoming a bad ending, he turned it around and in my opinion was one win away from a Conn Smythe.

Maybe that's what Lou needs, someone different to work with him, improve his play. He was a f-ing monster in Florida, seen alot of pucks. JMO.
