Monday afternoon on TSN Drive, Dreger discussed the topic of Vancouver’s asking price once again:
At one point in that 45 minute discussion, I was told that Vancouver wanted Tyler Biggs and was told, ‘No, not available.’ Okay, then Joe Colborne. ‘All right, what else?’ Clarke MacArthur, Ben Scrivens, and a second round draft pick. And Toronto said, ‘No, we’re not doing that, we’re not giving you a roster player or prospects, we’ve got to come up with something that is less specific.’ Then they got down to Scrivens and the two seconds, or whatever it ended up being and Toronto asked for money to be retained: a million dollars per year.

It’s important to take what Dreger has to say about the Leafs with a grain or two of salt, since he is Dave Nonis’s cousin, but it’s not like he’s an unreliable source, and he certainly has legitimate sources within the organization. The question isn’t whether Dreger’s sources are reliable, however, but whether Dreger’s sources have an agenda.

I'll tell you what I'd give up a 3rd round pick in the 2013 draft for Luongo if the Canucks pick up half his contract. Take or leave it Gillis.

His contract is the reason why he wasn't traded earlier. My team already has Dipietro locked up to a ridiculously long deal. No way in heck do I want Luongo's contract as well.

I don't expect Gillis to get much in return. He'll be lucky if he can Dump Luongo's contract. Toronto didn't want it at the deadline & I don't think many teams will be interested in taking on the contract period. Gillis is going to have to sweeten the pot.

If that trade happened and I was a season ticket holder for Vancouver, I'd go overboard to do something to show my displeasure.

About six or seven years ago in an Aston Villa EPL home game, a fan ran onto the pitch and tore up his season tickets. Something along these lines would be appropriate.

I don't see how. Reimer is the #1 goalie in Toronto. He's proven that with the way he's played during the regular season & certainly during the postseason against the Bruins. Reimer was the reason Toronto won Game 5 in Boston.
