Heard it was something about a extra year on or off the contract or something like that. Indians wouldn't do it or something like that. Personally I would have done the deal but maybe he really just didn't want to go to Cleveland

Proof positive that some guys are all about the money. I'm not going to complain, because this ups Suzuki's value and maybe the Twins can get something worthwhile for him.

he wanted out of a 5.25 club option for next year he would get more as a FA:suds:

Think it was also because Cleveland told him he'd be backing up Gomes next season.

I'm aware. If the Indians let him out of his contract, as he'd asked for, he'd be a free agent after the season. No arbitration.
It sucked because the Indians gave the Brewers the best trade value, the Mets offer was shit.

Seeing now that Lucroy to the Rangers is very likely, and Joey Gallo could be involved.

That sounds fishy.

I'm thinking he tried to get some more money, Cleveland said no, and he cooked up this whole 'I'm afraid I'll be Yan Gomes' backup' story to save face.

I dunno. Just repeating what was reported.

show me the money:suds:

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Jonathan Lucroy wanted his $5.25 million club option for 2017 voided in order to approve a trade to the Indians.

It's no surprise that the Indians wouldn't agree to this, nor is it terribly surprising that Lucroy attempted to use the leverage that he had. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports says that the Indians have "moved on," so no further attempt will be made to change Lucroy's mind. The Mets and Rangers have also been interested in Lucroy and are not on his no-trade list.
good...they traded a couple nice pieces for Miller...

Meija is on a 41 game hit streak- i shit you not- and is a 20 year old switch hitting catcher....fuck that guy - he had a chance to come to the team with the best record in the AL and turned it down because he had leverage.... i mean- now hes just gonna get traded to some where where he doesnt have a no trade clause and hes gonna hvae to play out the contract regardless....does he not understand how that works?

Thats what confuses me- no team is going to deal for this guy and give up what hte Brewers want and rip up the last year of his deal. ITs just not gonna happen- its the whole motivation for giving up a good prospect is that he is under contract for 5 million next year.

I would think getting a couple days at 1B and DH for a 30 year old catcher would only enhance his value and keep some wear and tear off his body

unless the jackass thinks teams are gonna bend over backwards to pay a catcher in his early thirties huge money for a long deal...the more i read about this the more it just boggles my mind.

He wouldn't be a backup but the Indians wanted him to play first base. He wants to catch majority of the time which he should. Peace.

I doubt that too. I could see them saying they might want him to play some 1st, but what reason would they have for wanting him to make a full time switch? So that they could keep Yan Gomes' bat in the lineup?....
