From everything I have been trying to read up on, he seems to be a cheap shot artist.

I can't see the Kings signing him and Kopitar next year.
Also does this close any door on Sekera?

Not sure. Lombardi had this to say (per Rosen):

Dean Lombardi, on how the trade impacts retaining free agents:
I think as a practical matter, we’re pretty much where we’re at right now. Again, this was a major move for us. We gave up a lot, and also you gave up your other options to make this all work. We’ve got space for injuries, and we have enough space where we’re not up against it, but it certainly doesn’t allow us to do anything else.

Lombardi said on the call singing Lucic does mean the end of Sekera. He also said buying out Richards won't help sign Sekera either

Never actually said they won't re-sign Sekera.

Personally I like this trade. Jones was great but a back up, trade him while you can. 13th over all pick doesnt mean it will ever become anything, and a prospect is a prospect and not one of top guys.

Lucic is better than Brown even with the cheap shots which im sure they will discuss.

Right now the top 6 is Lucic-Kopitar-Gaborik and Toffoli-Carter-Pearson which is a very solid top 6. Williams wasnt coming back at all and Richards is likely gone one way or another.

Its a big move but guys like Lucic dont come along for trade very often. Plus hes in his prime.

To my knowledge he does. I recall him signing a 2-year contract last year. He should have another year with the team. I don't know if he's ready to be a backup though. I would prefer him to have another year of grooming in the AHL.

His bio said he signed a 3 year entry level contract in 2011. NHL Numbers doesn't have him on there.

According to Craig Custance, Dean Lombardi has said that the Lucic trade spells the end for Andrej Sekera's time as a King.

Ah I didnt see a direct quote from Lombardi.

Wonder what we do on the back end. We have Muzzin, Doughty Martinez, McNabb and Greene. We still have Schultz that can play in the NHL and maybe Forbort can come up as a 6th or 7th defenseman.

We also don't have our 1st rounder for next year.

Still don't mind that trade so much because there was a chance Sekera wasnt going to stay anyways.

I too wonder what we do on D especially giving up Miller.

Before we get to worked up over losing Jones lets pretend for a moment that contract talks didn't
go so well with him. I wasn't expecting anything like this but once I saw that Toffoli was singed before
Jones I said to a friend that it looks like they must have trade worked out for Jones. Last week it was
expected that Jones would be the 1st RFA signed.

Not sure how I feel about this trade. I don't believe Deano when he said he's done tho.

Next?

I don't think Miller as projected to make the Kings roster any time soon.

I'm sure with how well Breube has played in the AHL the Kings were fine with moving Jones. Lets be honest any back up is only going to play 20 games max with the Kings.

Konecny was wearing purple. He wanted the Kings to draft him.

So Sekera gone
Williams gone
Voynov obviously gone
Stoll gone too
Regehr too?
Defense worries me losing all these defensemen

You were right, he has one more year at $575,000

Yo yo yo. I haven't posted in awhile but this trade got me going. I immediately went to this board to see what you guys were saying because you guys always have a level head. Lucic acquisition with $2.7mil held by Boston at face value is legit when you look at our top 3 lines. I mean, Chicago takes a fat step back with Kane and Toews making $10.5/year and Sharp being all but gone. But lost in the shuffle is Oduya not getting resigned because they can't afford him. So with them being a little weaker, I think LA's forwards are tops in the league (I know Oduya is on D). 1:Lucic-Kopitar-Gaborik. 2:Pearson-Carter-Toffoli. Bottom 6 are: King/Clifford/Lewis/Brown/Nolan/Richards (???). And open spots for new guys. That's a scary forward group.

But...our weakness has been our holes in our D. In 2012, that D Core was amazing with 3 perfectly balanced D pairings. 2013, Mitchell missed the whole year and it hurt a lot. 2014, he was back, Martinez/Muzzin stepped up and we win the cup again. 2015 devastated at D. Don't resign Mitchell (which was the correct move when you consider that he got $4mil from Florida), lose Voynov to domestic insanity, lose Martinez for 6-8 weeks, then trade for Sekera and he missed the final 2 weeks. Quick is phenomenal, but no one is good enough to overcome that. So this year we need to address the D core, no matter what.

So despite Lucic giving LA maybe the top forward group in the league, it isn't worth the glaring holes we have had and still have.

Eating Richards stupid contract at $4mil in a buyout it worse than having him. Best 3rd line in hockey with Brown and Richards is just too expensive. With Richards locked in, I consider moving Brown, and using the money to sign a defenseman. With Dean preaching loyalty that can't happen though, so what's the answer? He preaches building from the net out, and yet his D are not there right now.

I hate the Lucic trade only for cap reasons and the fact that we can't sign Sekera now.

Anyway, hope all of you are good, and that's my 2 cents.

basically they traded Jones, a 1st, Williams and Sekera for him. I would rather have Sekera signed and done something else with the 1st and Jones

I think the 1st and Jones is what the Kings were hoping to package with Richards. No one wanted that and since in their heads those pieces were gone already, they used them for Lucic.
Still some RFAs to sign. And still waiting for the info on Voynov.

Williams wasn't going to be back no matter what. Wants to much money and personally I love Williams but hes going to be hitting his decline now.
