we'll see what happens.

FIRST rumor is that they are looking at a S&T with OJ Mayo for Monta Ellis......and that Dwight Howard is the one driving this deal. Basically, if they land Ellis, Dwight signs.

Second rumor is a deal to get Rajon Rondo. To make this happen, they will dump Carter and Marion, as well as Crowder to clear the cap room.

LOTS of stuff flying in the wind. Word is that Lakers pretty much blew it with their pitch, and that Houston is a smoke screen. Last season, Dwight killed any trades to Houston......

It's going to be an interesting next few days.

The Lakers pitch is online damn near word for word. Basically Kobe told Dwight he needs to LEARN from Kobe how to win......more or less telling him that he's a sidekick; EXACTLY what Dwight does not want to hear. Also that they are keeping Dantoni as coach.

If that was indeed the pitch, Lakers chances are ZERO of signing him.

Why would Dwight be demanding more talent from the other squads then.... Dwight has Kobe, Pau and Nash here in L.A. The only thing stopping him is Don'tknowi.

Sounds like made up internet crap to me!! Pretty sure if that was the case, it would be all over the radio out here and there has been nothing!!

Honestly, that first trade sucks. I'd rather have Mayo than Ellis (really just a rich man's Nate Robinson). And what is the Rondo deal? Did you mean Carter, Marion, Crowder are in the trade? It'd also help if you at least listed a source.

First off, I would love it if we had a source.

2nd, this would be sick!!!

3rd, I like take charge Dwight, it also shows he wants to win regardless of who he signs with.

These are rumors. Source on the Lakers pitch is Steve Wojo from ESPN. The other rumors are from a local radio station in Dallas, so take that for what it's worth. They say their source is inside the FO, but like I said.......we'll all see one way or the other. It's really just something to bat around.......

The Ellis rumor is important because Ellis and Howard are REAL tight. The Rondo thing is probably just wishful thinking. Oh, they also mentioned in the Ellis deal that they'd also bring back JJ Barea.

You mean besides Nash and Kobe right?

Taking a chance on this Lakers squad is just as good (with more cash) if not better than Houston and Dallas as currently constructed, which is why I believe Dwight is asking for more talent from the other squads.

LOL - no, it's not. Not even CLOSE.

You're talking about a 40 year old Nash........a 35 year old Kobe.....and an old Gasol. This Lakers squad has NO FUTURE.

You Lakers fans kill me with this nonsense. Dwight wants to play for a young team that can contend long term, where he can be the man. That most definitely is NOT LA.

Even with Howard, this Lakers team has no chance at competing in the near future. You're asking him to basically sign up for the same failure you had last season, and then in a year, blow that roster up. WHY would you expect him to waste a year or more of his prime just to rebuild again???

Which is why he will end up in HOU, not Dallas. Dallas is still another year away (with Howard) from contending again.

I have no idea where he's going.......but Dallas can contend depending on who else they sign if they end up with Howard.

I'm not sold Houston is that much better a landing spot. Harden is basically going to shoot it every time he gets the ball. And there will be pressure for him to live up to all the great centers they've had in Houston before.

And for the record, I don't really want him in Dallas. I'm here in town for the holiday, and Mavs fans in town are going NUTS over this. Glad I live in Austin......its mostly Spurs fans

And you kill me with your nonsense. Du you think that Kobe, Nash and Pau are all signed for 5 more years!! If Dwight doesn't re-sign, the Lakers will have only Nash on the books after next season. If he does re-sign, they will have him and Nash!! They will have a ton of money to put younger, more athletic players around him!!

You're asking him to basically throw a year away, and you ASSUME Kobe won't be resigned. I'm betting he does, probably for a 3 year deal.

So now you STILL have old man Nash, Kobe is STILL Batman to Howards Robin, with a coach he doesn't like.

Sorry, but if you think that's a better idea than going to two considerably younger teams with talent and cap space RIGHT NOW I don't know what to tell you.

Rondo
Ellis
Dirk
Howard

Don't know if it is a good match, but it would be interesting. All are different types of players.

He never said that they would be there. He actually said exactly what you are saying would happen. That is blowing it up and rebuilding. Dwight will not want to be a part of that when both the Rockets and Mavs will be further along.

When they blow it up next off season they will literally have 1 position figured out. Aging Kobe. Nash is too old. The Lakers #1 will be Kobe. Nobody wants to sign onto that.

No way Howard can have it all. Does he want to play in a huge marker? The stay in L.A.

Chance to win now? Houston? Golden State?

Long term finances? L.A. or Texas teams (taxes).

Best fit for his diminishing skills? I'd say Houston (or G.S.)

Given all I know about Howard, he should go play for the Rockets. They might not be a major contender next year, but long term it's the best fit.

Dallas can't afford both Rondo and Ellis.......they will go after one or the other, and there's no guarantee they'll get either.
