One of the biggest reasons I listened to 90's rap was because it was the inverse of pop.

Then in 2003,

• Lose Yourself won an Academy Award.
• In Da Club blew up and invoked every rapper to make booty shaking club hits with no intelligible lyrics.
• Outkast dropped the first "rap" album to ever win the Album of the Year Grammy.

2003 was the year rap transitioned into a subgenre of pop, therefore I consider THAT the year rap died.

Oh believe me I know. I was just noting at least he could play a little. Darko got taken #2 also and he was a total stiff.
