Alderson " There is no trade" lmao
My guess is this means the Brewers saw Wheeler's medicals and their reaction was: NopeAlderson " There is no trade" lmao
Gomez is fine. He's definitely not playing like he's hurt. Very odd to pull out of what was a pretty decent deal for both teams.
Wait is this real? Mets tell Flores he's trading for Gomez and now the deal is off the table.
LMAO @ the Mets
Yep, he is fine. Apparently the deal fell through when Wheeler failed the physical.
That's not what happened at all.
This is a case of social media going wild.
Social media may have informed Flores of the deal, but nothing which was reported was wrong. The deal was done, players agreed upon, pending medicals.
Medicals didn't pend, so the deal was cancelled.
Maybe you are confused over the meaning of the word "done."
I doubt you go through all of those motions only to get hung up on salary after the deal is agreed upon. It's not like that blindsided them, they were aware of what he was making. However, if I'm not mistaken, teams don't share medical records until a deal is agreed upon per the CBA. If the Mets got hold of some MRIs or saw some treatments/conditions in his medical history that sent up the red flags they have every right to nix the deal, same with the Brewers if they saw something they didn't like with Wheeler.
Obviously his agent and the Brewers will adamantly defend his health because they still want to trade him, it's not in their best interest to say, yeah well he might have an underlying condition that will eventually be a problem. If the Mets see something that says "well that might require surgery in the offseason or this could get worse", then I understand why they would back out.
Except there are reports that the Mets were actively trying to get the Brewers to take on money somehow, either taking Legares instead of Flores, or eating some of Gomez's contract. The Brewers elected for Flores and refused to eat salary, and the Mets said, well, we don't like Gomez's injury history, so deal's off.
Of course, it has now come out that the Mets apparently made up the medical issue because they didn't want to pay Gomez's salary, and that's just bad business, as far as I'm concerned.
So, did they "make up" the fact that he has a hip issue, or not?
It's been documented that he has a bum leg. He was saying himself not two weeks ago that he didn't think he could run full-speed because of it. You were indicating earlier that the Mets fabricated the whole thing. Am I reading you wrong?
