How is it idiotic for the Rangers to take on a guy who still has to potential to possibly hit in the middle of their order, and give up nothing in return? They're paying him less than 3 million a year. It's called a zero risk gamble. It costs them nothing if it doesn't work out, and if he turns into a serviceable player he's well worth the chance.
