Do me a favor and snag some photos of these massive crowds next time you're at a LIV event. Hopefully you don't have too much trouble getting to the big names....I can tell you from experience it was packed. Besides, you said you didn't watch it. Check out the podium presentation if you want to see how packed it was. One of the cool things about LIV is for the team trophy presentation the caddies are up there with the pros. It was nice to see them get recognition and be a part of the victory celebration.
I think what may have deceived you about the crowd size is that you are probably used to only following the leaders at the PGA since that is all they show you and everyone is packed around that group while the rest of the course is empty. With LIV, the groups are all out at the same time and the crowd is dispersed throughout.
I must say though that the infrastructure for PGA events is better. They have great viewing areas around certain holes which I did not see at LIV but since the leaders are not necessarily going to finish at 18 since it is a shotgun start there is no need for the huge stands at the 18th like the PGA has. e
