I'm actually having more fun watching some new players capture some titles. The money and prestige is absolutely life changing for them.

One of the greedy former PGA tour members winning yet again is way less intriguing.
Sounds like you should go watch randoms play. You'll get intrigued.

So today I learned that Nicklaus was never going to the LIV, but it was his former company that was making shit up because he started designing courses again after his noncompete had expired?

LIV is dead in the water. It was a stupid idea in the first place. It maybe one of the worst conceived ideas in sport's history. Nobody watches it.
Players are now having buyer's remorse. Nobody cares about following the nobodies on that lame tour..... on garbage golf courses.
LIV golf tour is where players (who made their name on the PGA tour) go into nobody cares obscurity.

yes, with a monetary penalty...which is nothing for someone like him.

they should make him play X number of events to qualify for full reinstatement.

It sounds like LIV players wouldn't have to pay a "fine" to be reinstated or did I read it wrong?

But I would be fine with what you are suggesting and he can afford it. Heck his sponsors would probably pay it anyway.

Brooks has to pay $5M to charity and does not qualify for the PGA Tour equity grants for five years, he will not receive FedEx Cup bonus money in 2026 and he cannot play signature events unless he earns his way in

Take the high road and don't penalize players wanting to come back to the PGA

Let me ask you, are basketball players penalized by the NBA if they go overseas, or baseball players that go to Japan...soccer players?

They all follow the money, I see no difference.

And I don't know the answer to my question.

the PGA requires a membership to play...you have to qualify and all that.

other leagues don't require memberships and those memberships have requirements to remain a member. They were not meeting those requirements.

I have no problem making them requalify to get their card back, but the fines border on ridiculous.

they aren't really "fines" though

they are qualifiers...and because they are coming back, they do not qualify for some of the money they would have earned had they not left.

The guys that will be coming back won't pay the fines. Their sponsors will.

I will say this much players coming back will help the PGA Tour get more money

ELIGIBLE PLAYERS: Open to players who have participated in Unauthorized Tournaments, have not been a member for a minimum of two (2) years and have won THE PLAYERS, Masters, U.S. Open, PGA Championship and/or The Open Championship in the years 2022-2025.

so really the only ones allowed to come back are Smith, Rahm, Bryson, and Brooks as they have won in the last few years...so all the losers who took the money are not eligible to come back.
