Actual transcript from Allen Park:

Mayhew: Fuck our 4th and 5th round picks. You know I'll just fuck them up.

Lewand: true.

Mayhew: Where's my draft magazine?
You forgot this ":suds:" at the end of their conversation. I imagine many of their war room talks involve liquor.

Revis is where I would be looking to spend instead of Hardy. I like what we have at DE

The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci disputes a report that the Bills are pursuing free agent Darrelle Revis.

It's entirely possible the Bills were floated by Revis' agents to drive up a bidding war. The Revis sweepstakes are expected to come down to the Patriots and Jets. An Adam Schefter report from earlier indicated the Jets are the favorite.

Just heard that Fairley is going to Cincy tomorrow. Guess Indy spent up the money they were supposedly throwing him. Once Cincy tells him he's banged up too much and they aren't spending big dollars on him, maybe he'll find his way back to Detroit.
Better not give him many up-front dollars or guarantees or he'll be 370lbs by August.

Ok, I'm liking this a little more, the more I think about it. As you guys know I was for tagging Suh. So this move, in comparison:

We save roughly $17 mil on a 3 year older DT, not at the same level as Suh, but a good player

We gain a 3rd(compensatory) and 7th

Lose a 4th and 5th

So while I don't like the value, trade wise, I am starting to hop on board with this acquisition.

Fuck. That's a heartbreaker. Good landing spot for him. Lewis will turn him into an animal.

I think you are looking at that one all wrong. First its only a visit and I think there is a big hurdle there in the form of Atkins.

It would be a slippery slope for the Bengals to put an offer on the table that is likely to be more than what we might be offering. Bad business to risk pissing off your pro bowl star player with a great work ethic and proven results by bringing in somebody who is the exact opposite but pay him nearly the same amount.

I don't see any way that there is a clear cut financial gain for him to sign there, at least not yet. My bet is the Lions are still in the running and we will be having additional talks before he signs with anyone.

No Way in hell he gets an offer like that from the LIONS..

he'll most likely get 14M per and more power to him if he gets 16M per.. we'd be right back in cap hell if he was signed by us, especially if he came up injured. We just got rid of a huge cap hit. no need to take on another one, no matter how good Revis is...

I think the price is high for the Lions because I'm sure he's bitter about them not picking up that 5th year.

Youre probably right. They keep saying he could be the smartest businessman playing football.

But, it may be worth it because the Lions have a 3 year window to try and win the big dance.

Possibly. But I suspect he is in line to get an offer better than $5.5m because we didn't pick it up.

Pretty simple sales job IMO opinion to tell him that they didn't pick it up because they hoped it would bring out the best in him and that it did so now they want to reward him the better contract that he's earned. Lots of ego stroking sentiment in a statement like that.

With Lanford in Indy now that probably means he's no longer on their radar. If he leaves Cincy tomorrow without a contract I think we become the front runner to sign him.

I agree that the window still exists but I don't see it as being 3 yr. window anymore. It depends on CJ's health, Tate at least staying as productive, Ebron actually being productive and now making sure AUSTIN chooses the players that he sees fit for his scheme and not losing a step when in comparison to this past yrs. Def, not statiscally 1st run, 3rd pts., 13th pass def., nearly the same .. 2 more years. that's it.. IMO

I would give Revis a contract, barring that we could minimize the cap hit in the 3rd year because that's the year we need the money for Ziggy and Slay

Ziggy has that 5th yr. option, so that takes him thru 2017, Slay becomes a FA after 2016, that's just 2 yrs. away. Ziggy still needs to be extended before end of 2017 but he gives some leeway throughout the season if need be.
