Lions have signed Slay to a four-year extension with a value of $50.2 million. He also receives $23 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Surprised he accepted such a short term deal. Would allow us to do another 3 year deal when this one expires. Money is about right. We will get Ziggy done next year.

Early negotiations had him holding out for much more. Then, there was a seismic shift within the organization that changed his attitude of where he wanted to play.

Cheerleaders.

Who knew that would be the key to the franchise?

Rumors i saw were actually a lot less 10.8 million per i'll see if i can find the article when i get home from work, but that was prior to free agency this year and the monster Jenkins and Norman contracts.

I was hoping to see another year of good production.

Looks like we are paying for half production, half expectation.

Well it was 2 years in a row that he is considered in the top 5 in the league by most. Waiting would have cost a lot more. Ziggy will be in the same spot next year. He was a top DE last year and probably again this year.

Dont want to wait too long or you will be paying for them past their prime.

I get that. I am just a little more conservative I suppose. Especially after seeing Calvin's contract compared to what AJ Green, Julio Jones and other top flight WR's got.

They can just tag Ziggy if they only want to pay for his prime.

I am more concerned about Stafford when his comes due. His agent is going to be go all Dr. Evil

I honestly believe when Staff retires he'll be the highest paid team sports athlete of all time.

He was born at the right time.

Did opposing teams attack Mathis' side of the field and by doing so make Slay look better?

If he is truly a top 15 CB then we got a deal. And in 4 years maybe BQ can find another up-and-coming CB so we can let Slay go if he demands ridiculous money.
