Maybe the coaches fix that. AP used to fumble a lot too.
He fumbles on a nickel, quarter, fiddy cent piece and those Sacajewea dollars though.

Walter Payton fumbled 30 times his first three seasons in the NFL. It is coachable... My issue with smaller hands, can you change his technique?

Hand size schmam size. Get him on a good forearm strength routine and he will be fine.

Agreed. Hand size should be more of a problem catching the ball then running with it. He actually is a pretty good receiver. That suggest something else is deficient when he is carrying the ball. You may be right in that he could be lacking forearm strength. I am sure between that and some improved technique he could be fine.

Lol, then there would have been calls from some of our smug-ass posters calling for Hall of Fame RB Walter Payton to be cut from our team, then, because zero fumbles are acceptable from a RB. In fact, for a RB to have an acceptable fumble quota he actually has to play special teams and/or defense and cause and then recover a fumble for every 20 carries he has. Fumbling is THAT serious for a RB. Gotta back-stock those turnovers to make up for all the INTs that it's ok for QBs to throw. That's a risk that comes with the position for QBs...

Many smug to go around here. I was only showing that coaching can possibly help turnovers.

Did coaching help Stafford last year on INTs? Some say yes, I feel they did to a extent. Then also he had less attempts. His ratio per attempt was better, just not extremely better. Just my opinion.

Not playing cured that.

But maybe Abdullah's high character allows our coaches to get him to take care of the ball. He'll adapt. E'rybody will adapt. Especially with a fullback from Rutgers leading the way. (I started snorting Blue Kool Aid powder halfway thru that post. that Shit burns man.)

Not to really shit on Bell, but Abdullah can do some shit Bell cant cme close to. If you watch him (even his YouTube highlights), you can see his ability to find and get through even the smallest holes.

I agree that coaching definitely can help. That comment wasn't directed at you, I can't recall you ever being totally belligerent as to how often it is acceptable for a RB to fumble the ball...

Did Walter Peyton have tiny hands?

Was Joique Bell the fourth pick in the draft?

Where do you people come up with yer comparisons?

I'd cut a UDFA for pissing without permission.

The worst fumbles are in crucial moments or when the game is on the line. Every possession is important but some turnovers can be forgiven. As long as a RB doesnt constantly do it at an alarming rate, I think its ok.

There may a chance he already did a technique change as his fumbling rate was very low last year as opposed to the three previous.

Might just be a little fine tune or the coaches agree with a new style.

Has anybody read anything on a change he made before senior season at Nebraska? Read some on him but have not heard anything of such yet on fumbling.

Yes, they were not extremely huge

No

Heard about the 30 fumbles on radio...

I would too, I'd keep that fucker if he just pissed his pants though. Shows discipline and character.

I'm content to let him actually fumble in a Lions uniform before I care what his college stats say.

If I remember correctly Leshoure had zero fumbles before he put on the Lions jersey. He broke that streak quickly.

As long as AA doesn't get a concussion from the sound of the wind going through his ear hole its a better pick than Best was.

He has been bulking up steadily...and his fumbles have decreased. I think he will be fine.

It seems like Bell doesnt have many fans. I tell you what, I like Bell. He does lack speed, but he is excellent at breaking tackles...he made a lot of people miss last year. I think with some blocking he could really be a work horse. He also is a pretty good receiver. Im excited about our running game next year.

You must have watched him play a lot more than I did to see him run-blocking then. I didn't see a bit of that, and since run blocking is a FBs primary responsibility, that's kind of important.

We drafted a FB, and have another FB on the roster the staff likes already. To me it doesn't make sense to try to change Zenner into something he isn't and to marginalize what he's best at to move him to a position where we don't have a big need, whereas at his natural position, RB, we do still have a need for depth. I vote we keep the square peg in the square hole, and use the round pegs we already have for the round hole..

I could get on board with this if the Lions organization didn't spend so much time putting their round pegs in our brown holes.
