Not necessarily. The talent is there to compete for at least the PAC Championship. Talent hasn't been the problem, it's been coaching. Despite all of the criticism they've received, they've only had 1 truly down recruiting year. They just haven't done a good job of developing that talent.

Playoff win and more than one Rose Bowl win came since 2016? Oregon has only cracked the Top 25 ONCE from 2016-2020, same as WSU. Both lost just 2 games those seasons. Oregon will probably hang in the Top 25 even after Utah beats them again? But WSU was ahead of Oregon from 2016-2020, despite WSU suffering more than anyone during the covid year.

LR just basically gave OU the middle finger after saying he was loyal to Oklahoma and was staying. You have to look at all of the pieces. He was the HC and OC and QB coach. Which means, our entire offensive recruits for 22/23 are without a sponsor into the OU program. We will most likely bleed out our entire recruiting classes for those 2 years. On top of that, we are already seeing several 5* recruits for next year looking like they are going to decommit. And to put the icing on the cake, Caleb Williams has put out a tweet that looks like he is going to transfer out, considering he is a Cali kid.

Fuck LR, he did this intentionally. His poor performance as a coach all year and then got worst after the bye week shows that he had no loyalty to finish the year strong and just wanted to get out. Considering how CW played yesterday, I would not be at all surprised if LR forced him to be 1 dimensional yesterday to keep him healthy for the portal.

LR's legacy at OU will be forever tarnished by this. He is literally gutting our entire program before we move to the SEC, and most likely doing it on purpose. And as for the next coach, there is a lot of smoke coming out about Venables coming back and most OU fans and Alum would welcome him back with open arms.
