After some research it seems that the Rockets structured Lin's contract $5-$5-$15 to put immense pressure on the NYK and their luxury situation BUT the for tax reasons it counts as $8.3m against the cap per year NOT $15m in the final year.

If the Rockets are to trade Lin's contract how does that work?

Follow up, Poison Pill contracts fair or foul?

Kept googling, it would seem Lin's contract can be traded and would be an $8.3m hit for anybody.

Lin signed as a free agent and left New York for good - According to Hoops Hype, Lin gets 5.25 million this year and 14 million next year and the same thing or Asik - Ouch - Those two will be completely untradeble for Houston next season.

If Houston intends to trade Asik or Lin - they have better do it now while they have value with thei 5.2 million contracts this season - 14 million each next year for each of those is not going to be easy unleas a dumb ass like the Lakers do it out of desparation

I don't envision Buss clan would fork out that type of dough even with their padded wallets

Actually Asik would be a decent center for the Lakers with 10 ppg and 11 rebounds, but that 14 million next year is rediculous

I believe for both if traded the contracts still stand. Both will be owed $15 million but it will only count at $8.3 million against the cap. Lin will be a lot harder to move than Asik. Asik will be hard as well if Houston keeps thinking they can get way more than he is worth.
