Tulo would be amazing. Would make an already good lineup incredible.

That said, it would take a TON to get him, I didn't realize he was killing it this year like he is.

how much is tulo from playing in colorado and would his production translate in the big LF in PNC.
signed till 2020 is good if we are going to send prospects (not sure i want to) we don't just want a .5 - 1.5 year rental.

Not sure why Colorado would sign him to a huge long term deal then deal him just because they are having a bad year. You don't sign a guy for a decade, then deal him because of a down years. It's not like they don't have help coming through the pipeline either. There is no chance he gets traded.

If the Pirates could land Tulo and Morneau, I would not be reluctant to sell the farm. The Pirates would be set for the next 5-6 years and that would essentially block the players in the farm.

Maybe Hanson, Bell, Meadows and Ramirez/Garcia/Barnes/Jones? Tulo would block Hanson and Bell, Meadows + any other outfielder would be blocked by McCutchen/Marte/Polanco. Try to hold on to Glasnow and Kingman + Taillon can't be traded due to DL, but I would not be reluctant to trade any position players. I don't think any other team could put together a package like Hanson, Bell, Meadows +. Gayo should add prospects that will be ready in 5-6 years once the current group starts to break up.

Sorry guys, dreaming is fun...but Tulo is NOT getting moved. I'd bet the house on that.

Yeah, we should probably think about more realistic targets than the likely NL MVP who happens to play one of the most challenging defensive positions, and who plays it well.

Besides, our pitching probably needs more help than our lineup. I'm still on the trade-for-Cliff-Lee bandwagon, once he's healthy and allowed to be traded.

if they don't go after a top tier guy which i doubt they will i'd go after Tommy Milone. He has put up decent numbers in the American League and it under control till 2017.

Agreed, assuming the A's would actually trade him, which I don't think they will at least this year, maybe in the offseason.

I've seen rumors that we're scouting Philly and that we're tied to Jon Lester so far.

According to Ken Rosenthal, AJ Burnett would prefer to go to Pittsburgh. If Philly eats a good portion of the contract I would be ok with his return.

So yeah, not sure if everyone has seen the Marte for Tijuan Walker and Nick Franklin rumors, but they are out there.

Read the rumor the Pirates are in on Josh Willingham. I see that as a waste with their current roster.

I saw it but just figured it was completely made up. There is probably a shred of truth, Jack calls and asks if Neil would trade Marte, Neil says sure, for Felix Hernandez, Jack says how about Ti Walker, and Franklin.........Neil says throw in Paxton, both sides hang up knowing they did due diligence.

I want no part of AJ coming back. If you are going to make a move make a big one. Get Lee, Lester, Hamels or Price. You have the prospects to do it, money is a question mark.
If not hold tight. A middle of the rotation starter is not going to change the balance of power. We have enough of them.

SP
Lee, Lester,Hamels, Price
Cole
Liriano
Morton
Locke/Volquez

BP
Melancon
Watson
Wilson
Hughes
battling for the last 3 spots
Worley/Piementel/Frieri/Locke/Volquez/Gomez/whoever else is left

This concludes the pipe dream segment of my post.

To be fair, we have the prospects to get 3 of the 4 you named. Problem is, Lee has multiple years remaining at a huge cost and you really don't know what you are getting with him. Hamels also is owed a lot of money. Lester is probably not going to be traded since Boston is sneaking back into the race, and the same goes for Price.

Probably the best pitcher we could hope for would be a healthy Cole and the second best we could get would be Nick Kingham.

For the Rangers, that's easy. Except for Darvish get rid of all of them.

Lee seems like a legit target, but Phillies would need to eat some money.

Can't see them making a decision on a trade for Hamels at the deadline, that would be a huge commitment, since he has 4 years and 100 million left on the deal, no way that happens in the next week.

Actually Hamlets would be pretty easy if a team took on his entire salary........but that team is not the Pirates.
