I wasn't on CBS, but generally speaking, that was a pretty good debate. Ultimately, I'd usually lean to Cano if for nothing other than he wouldn't have to jump to catch a line drive 5 feet off the ground.

Other than 2008 when Cano was so bad, the consensus was Cano was the better hitter and the Midget was the better fielder. But Boston fans hate to concede anything to NY.

I used to LOVE to goad Yankees and Red Sox fans into "whose titles are more tainted" and/or "which team is more homegrown" debates.

All titles are fucking tainted these days, and those two are probably the least homegrown teams in the majors.

It was amazing to look at the teams and see that Boston normally had 15 or 16 homegrown players and NY would have around 12-14. Those numbers depend on your definition of homegrown, mine is spent his entire MLB career with said team.

That's more or less my definition too. I don't care if a team actually drafted the player, but for me to call them homegrown, I like them to spend some time in the minors system and be brought up by that team.

Also, for that NYY/BOS debate, I don't think you can just look at the number of homegrown players - I think you have to consider production, too. A homegrown scrub does not equal a homegrown start in that debate.

Stephen Drew @ $5 mil has a run production of 30 and an OPS+ 65

Robbie Cano @ $24 mil has a run production of 43 and an OPS+ 75

Yes Cano is doing better than Drew, but is the difference in production worth the difference in salary?

I liked Cano when he was in NY, and wish him all the luck wherever he is. But it was a bad signing for Seattle.
If we don't have Cano, we don't have Cruz, PERIOD.

BTW not sure how the math works out, but is Beltran @ 15mil or Headley @ 13 mil worth it?

no, but thats what i said and someone here kept trying to put his fingers in me over it.

.600 OPS. i can do that falling down in the batters box.

all those "pedroia vs cano" arguments died when he left NY, odd.

I can see where someone could think you were saying since Cano left NY there hasn't been much of a comparison.

maybe with a learning disability.

To me, "all those "pedroia vs cano" arguments died when he left NY, odd" reads more like a comment about the two players' comparability than it does about how there used to be a lot of threads debating the two players and now there aren't because New Yorkers don't care anymore.

Oh I remember them, but on this site most of the Yankee and Red Sox fans went to Zig's site and I don't know what they debated last year. Also as a Yankees fan why am I going to debate weather the Sox or Mariners have the better 2B?

They were talking about Cano's struggles in the Mariners forum, and I mentioned that he can no longer hit off speed stuff and that's where he used to butter his bread. I also mentioned that when a team like the Yankees lets their best player walk in free agency, it's likely not a good thing to be the team that signs him.

You'd have thought I called their mothers whores. With nothing else said, the conversation switches from Cano's struggles to what a shithole Cleveland is. Talk about some sensitive, insecure quims. You guys warned me about Mariners fans, but this was ridiculous.

@gowazzu02 literally menstruated right there on the floor and started crying, and then @PolarVortex came to console him with bunny slippers, a bucket of bon bons and the complete Friends DVD boxed set. Truly incredible.

You're talking about a franchise that hasn't been to the playoffs since 2001. We're bound to be a bit sensitive.

Also, I wouldn't advise picking a fight with @PolarVortex. I've seen what he can do, he'll eat you alive.

They can be pretty crazy in there... defiantly the most dysfunctional team board I've ever witnessed.
