I sent a tersely worded letter to their customer service department and George Lucas. I got nothing back from the company and the usual cease and desist letter from Lucas' people. They can threaten me all they want but I know the stalking laws much better than they do so their threats are meaningless.

For what it's worth, I think you're one of the posters that elevates the baseball discourse around here.

FanNation's MLB threads were great. There really were no ongoing feuds. There were some seriously knowledgeable baseball fans and people didn't get away with bullshit - if you said something stupid or inaccurate, you'd get called out quick.. That's not to say it was all baseball talk, because it sure as shit wasn't, but the overall baseball IQ I felt was very high. Some seriously funny motherfuckers, too.

There's a few of those folks on SportsHoopla, but they don't come around here much. @Cyder knows his baseball - his recollection of things blows me away. It'd be good if he'd spend some more time on here, but I hope he doesn't bring his blow up doll in the princess-leia-as-jobba-slave costume because that makes me uncomfortable.

Most of the posters on CBS knew their shit, just prefered to talk smack.

We have had some good discussions n here in the past few years. The main topics I remember were "who was better" and "past MVP revotes." I have thought about doing a who was the best at each position. Taking the top 32 in career WAR and have a elimination tournament.

Seriously???

Cano had a great year last year. 1/2 year in a slump and the NY gloaters come out of the woodwork .

No reason to assume that he is done yet. If he is still struggling for the rest of year then the "Is he finished?" discussion can commence. Until then it is a bit premature and blustery.

I'm not a NY gloater. His demise isn't written in stone, but I sure as shit wouldn't want him and his contract.

I think he'll bounce back to some extent, but wouldn't count on him ever being worth $24MM.

I'm seeing talk on the NBA threads (I don't know fuckall about basketball) about if Lebron should have won the Finals MVP even though the Cavs lost. Reminds me of the should pitchers be able to win MVP discussions.

I'm not looking for a big discussion here, just wondering what your thoughts on that are -- baseball not basketball.

I refuse to vote for a pitcher to win the MVP. Unless the pitcher was lights out, say sub 1.50 ERA and no batter had even a very good season. In other words I might consider a pitcher for the MVP in 1968, but not any other season.

A losing team player winning the Series MVP? I could vote that way, if he had a tremendous series and winning team won by playing as a team.

Right now we are about 40% of the season. Cano has an OPS+ change of -69 from last year and -53 from his average. I can not see him staying this bad, unless there is an unknown injury. I believe most Yankee fans are laughing at the Mariners and the contract more than laughing at Cano. Notice I said most, there are some in every fandom.

That is a reasonable analysis of the situation but he could still return to form. You might not be one if the gloaters but they do exist in this thread and they are premature in their discussion.

True. But he could still return to form beyond that timeframe. I am not saying he will. Maybe he is done and will not return to form. My only point is that acting like he is done based on less than half a season vs a stellar career is kind of dumb.

They were talking about Cano's struggles in the Mariners forum, and I mentioned that he can no longer hit off speed stuff and that's where he used to butter his bread. I also mentioned that when a team like the Yankees lets their best player walk in free agency, it's likely not a good thing to be the team that signs him.

You'd have thought I called their mothers whores. With nothing else said, the conversation switches from Cano's struggles to what a shithole Cleveland is. Talk about some sensitive, insecure quims. You guys warned me about Mariners fans, but this was ridiculous.

@gowazzu02 literally menstruated right there on the floor and started crying, and then @PolarVortex came to console him with bunny slippers, a bucket of bon bons and the complete Friends DVD boxed set. Truly incredible.

I haven't seen much from mariners fans as they don't post on the general boards much it seems

But Seahawks and Husky fans are legit insane so I can definitely believe it lol

Is Strasburg done, is Panda done, is J Zimmerman done? All are having subparagraph seasons. It happens and sometimes the player is done, sometimes they are just having subpar season. As I said I like Cano and hope he can turn it around.

I agree that the some combination of a truly special season from a pitcher and not stand-out hitting candidates would need to take place, but I don't have a problem with a pitcher winning it.

I don't like the "MVP is only for pitchers" argument. It's Most Valuable Player, not Hitter.

Fair enough.

I had an opportunity to acquire Cano in a FBB league I'm in so I did a fair amount of reading on him. He's been in slumps before, but there are some periphery things that lead me to believe this is a bit more dire.

I wasn't on CBS, but generally speaking, that was a pretty good debate. Ultimately, I'd usually lean to Cano if for nothing other than he wouldn't have to jump to catch a line drive 5 feet off the ground.

I used to LOVE to goad Yankees and Red Sox fans into "whose titles are more tainted" and/or "which team is more homegrown" debates.

All titles are fucking tainted these days, and those two are probably the least homegrown teams in the majors.
