Tyler Myers had a down season and used the off season to learn from one of the best. Pretty good read and Myers was honest about his play.

Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) -- There are many things that have to fall into place if the Sabres are to contend. One of the biggest things this team needs is for Tyler Myers to not only be this team’s best defenseman, but one of the best defensemen in the NHL. Many feel Shea Weber is the best defenseman in the league and Tyler Myers used the off season to spend some time with him, “Definitely, with my size I think I can start punishing guys more in the defensive zone. I take a look at a guy like Shea Weber and spent some time with him in the summer and I’m trying to implement a lot of his defensive nastiness into my game and try to do that at the start of the season.”

Last season was another very inconsistent one for him. Myers turns 23 on February 1st and is entering his fourth NHL season already. Myers said, “Yes, for me taking a hard look at last year I definitely can be more consistent. I thought after I went through that stint where Lindy had to sit me down for a game, it was an eye opener for me. It really forced me to take a look at my game and I thought I just got better and better from that point. I just need to build off that and make sure going into every night that I’m focused and ready to go.”

Sounds good, Boss, there's no doubt Myers has the skill set to be an elite defenseman in this league, and don't forget, he still a youngster. Gotta love the upside if you're a Sabres fan.

/Make sure Darcy Regier has Jay Feaster's number in case you're looking to move Ennis :)

Wonder is firing a 103+ MPH slap slot was discussed.

That would be scary good.

Either one would look good, Boss, I'm not that picky.

I don't think so buddy.

Ennis centered the hottest line when last season came to an end with Marcus Foligno and Drew Stafford as his wingers but Hodgson will center the top line with Thomas Vanek who has scored 230 goals in his 7 year NHL career and Jason Pominville who has netted 157 goals over the last 6 seasons.

Well he is huge at 6'8" and I have never seen a man that big skate as smoothly as he does. If he adds the toughness to his game then yes, he could be scary good.

Lindy wants him to get stronger (like the story said) but not bulk up to where it hurts his skating style.

They went 14-2-3 in their last 19 games last years so if they can get just a bit more from each player plus adding Ott it could be interesting.

Meh.

The Sabres have too many D-Men as it is. Might as well get something for this kid while you still can. :cell:

The Sens will take him off your hands for Erik Condra and a pick.

A Myers-Karlsson duo just might work alright out there. :eyebrows:
