The return on Josh Hader to Milwaukee is significant: left-handed closer Taylor Rogers, lefty pitching prospect Robert Gasser, outfielder Esteury Ruiz and right-hander Dinelson Lamet, sources tell ESPN. Hader will be a free agent after the 2023 season.

BREAKING: The Brewers are trading star reliever Josh Hader to the Padres, a source tells ESPN.
wow is right

eff Passan of ESPN.com reports that the Padres are acquiring closer Josh Hader from the Brewers.

The first blockbuster of the trade deadline has arrived. Passan adds that the Brewers will receive lefty closer Taylor Rogers, outfielder Esteury Ruiz, right-hander Dinelson Lamet and pitching prospect Robert Gasser. Hader is arguably the most dominant relief pitcher in baseball and will take over as the Padres primary closer. Meanwhile, Devin Williams will ascend to the closing role in Milwaukee. The fantasy implications of this deal are massive and should unfold over the next few days.

The Brewers must be content with Williams as a closer. Rogers could be a good add as well.

So, are those prospects some of the ones the Padres were offering the Nats?

Why aren't the Dodgers chasing closer help?

Yea I'd much rather have Hader between the two. Seems like the Brewers just have a surplus of relief pitching and figured they get something out of Hader before he hits free agency next year. They got two decent prospects, an intriguing but underachieving arm in Lamet, and an alright reliever in Rogers.

guess they had to take trivino:suds:

Jack Curry of YES Network reports that the Yankees have acquired Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino from the Athletics.

The A's will receive pitching prospects JP Sears, Ken Waldichuk and Luis Medina along with infield prospect Cooper Bowman in the deal. There are questions about the health of Montas' shoulder, but he's looked solid in two starts since returning and is the big rotation piece the Yanks need with Luis Severino (lat) going down. Trivino will work in middle relief in the Bronx.

The Rays have acquired Jose Siri from the Astros in a three-team trade involving the Orioles, per ESPN's Jeff Passan.

It's the deal which will send Trey Mancini -- along with pitching prospect Jayden Murray -- to the Astros. Pitching prospects Seth Johnson and Chayce McDermott are headed to the Orioles. Siri has an ugly .542 OPS this season, but he can play a good center field and perhaps the Rays will get a little more out of his bat. The Rays are expected to designate Brett Phillips for assignment to make room for Siri.
