The Phillies just drafted Justin Crawford (son of Carl Crawford) who can play CF. One of the fastest guys in the draft.
That's an interesting pick but a little unusual. Teams are drafting more for power than speed these days. The speedy players are almost like Dinosaurs in today's game. The Phillies just drafted Justin Crawford (son of Carl Crawford) who can play CF. One of the fastest guys in the draft.

yeah you need defense up the middle and this kid's potential is to the moonNah, you still need speed up the middle. but it just can't be completely useless with the bat like billy hamilton was.
oops, my bad. This one doesn't work. Carl Crawford was just a dinosaur denier (as far as I can tell), Carl Granderson was the moon landing denier.yeah you need defense up the middle and this kid's potential is to the moon
He seems talented but I really would rather the Phillies draft college guys. They had the number one pick in 2016 and took a high school center fielder and he's just now starting to play some in the majors (hasn't really impressed yet either). The Phillies just drafted Justin Crawford (son of Carl Crawford) who can play CF. if they're giving us Gallo and a couple of minor leaguers plus paying all of Gallo's salary and we're giving the Yankees a duffle bag of batting practice balls i would still not like itYowww
As a Phillies fan I think I'd trade Castellanos for him straight up.if they're giving us Gallo and a couple of minor leaguers plus paying all of Gallo's salary and we're giving the Yankees a duffle bag of batting practice balls i would still not like it
That's a steep price for a corner outfielder. I'm not sure who would have that many young players to deal
Yankees acquired OF Andrew Benintendi from the Royals for RHP Beck Way, RHP Chandler Champlain and LHP T.J. Sikkema.
The trade was made shortly after the Yankees were swept by the Mets. The Royals are heading to New York to begin a four-game series on Thursday, so there's a good chance that Benintendi will be in the lineup for New York immediately. The 28-year-old has been strong in 2022 with a .320/.387/.398 slash, and offers an upgrade on defense in the corner outfield. He should be a strong fantasy option -- at least in the average category -- for the remainder of 2022.
Yankees just love to acquire players from Red Sox championship teams.
Benintendi's having a good year even with the lack of power, but it's also on the heels of a .366 BABIP. He has an xBA of .279. Royals got several prospects, but currently none of them grade higher than 40 FV.
ellsbury not so muchIt worked with Johnny Damon!

Only one of them had even gotten to hi A and none were ranked in the top 30 as far as I can see, leaving them in good position to go get the starter they absolutely need.
LIke I said in the other thread, seems like a light return for a guy 3rd in AL batting average.
to be fair, two of them were in 2020 and 2021 drafts. Eric Longenhagen does see Champlain and Way as future relievers with Sikkema as a back-of-the rotation starter, though possibly a #4 on a contending team.
The Yankees Add Andrew Benintendi To Stabilize the Outfield
This probably means a merciful end to Joey Gallo’s miserable stint in New York.blogs.fangraphs.com
I don't think the Yankees will particularly miss any of these guys.
