This is basically why I wanted him or Simmons for the hole at 2nd base but the payroll clamp yada yada

I have to take back my rebuttal about not wanting Simmons because he quit on the Angels last year.

Here is why:

ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Twins have re-signed veteran slugger Nelson Cruz.

Dan Hayes of The Athletic says it is a one-year, $13 million contract. Cruz will turn 41 years old this July and is strictly a DH option at this point in his career, but he was a monster for the reigning AL Central champions in 2019-2020, posting a combined .308/.394/.626 batting line with 57 home runs and 141 RBI in 173 games. They'll try to run it back in 2021 and maybe stage a little deeper postseason push. Minnesota also signed Andrelton Simmons and J.A. Happ in late January, so this has been a strong finish to what had been a quiet winter.

Honestly Wong would have been a perfect fit here. Cheap stop gap and the club option would come up right when we are planning to contend. Even if they had to pay more then the Brewers it would have been worth it. Basically bumps Moore to LF until Kelenic is ready and then Shed Long can be off the roster. Would have been damn useful here, but this organization is just run by cheap morons. Nothing has and will ever change.
Cant wait till we decide we want to contend in 2 years and still have a hole at 2nd base and either overpay an old veteran or deal one of our top prospects because we are desperate to keep to Dipotos job.

Then we can start this 10 year cycle over again.

Sorry didnt mean overreact over Kolten Wong but it just highlights how I have no faith in whats going on.

Any thing you seen online about the MLB vs MLBPA? The last thing I saw was the MLBPA said no on the new contract and MLB informed teams that they must report to Spring Training on time in accordance to local health officials guidelines.

That is what I saw. Players said that was the plan by owners all along. I don't see it happening at this point with Maricopa County still one of the virus hotspots and Florida as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they double teams up at regular home stadiums and just play each other all spring cutting down the chance for a wider spread unless they get ahold of vaccine which takes weeks to start working per reports.

They can cancel the entire season as far as I am concerned. Mariners pretty much have already.

I don’t know. That was the last tweet I Drayer put put out about it.

And come on, you are a M’s fan. You have to semi enjoy the pain by now.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that the White Sox are signing free agent catcher Jonathan Lucroy.

The deal is pending a physical, says Murray. The right-hander was once an All-Star performer behind the plate, but has struggled with the bat the last few seasons. He'll likely compete for the backup backstop gig in the Cactus League behind Yasmani Grandal.

Indians signed OF Eddie Rosario to a one-year, $8 million contract.

MLB.com's Mark Feinsand first passed along word of the agreement last Friday and Cleveland has now made it official. Rosario was non-tendered by the Twins back in early December despite averaging 33 home runs and 103 RBI for every 162 games played since the beginning of the 2017 season. He's a flawed player in that he doesn't get on base at a great clip and is poor defensively, but the Tribe badly needed a power bat and Rosario should continue to fare well offensively in 2021. He projects to bat third or fourth for his new club.
