My Dad and I and my little brother went to a Washington Bullets game back in early 1995 while working in Northern Va. and afterward we got a pic of my 'lil bro who was about 14 at the time standing next to George Muresan. The guy was a living giant. Hibbert is nearly that tall and an amazing athlete. George was just a force in the defensive paint.

But that's not what his fans say. They say what makes Lebron such a great defender is he can guard all 5 positions. Let's see him prove it, in a series that matters.

This is Lebron's fans arguement for saying he's a top defender and deserving of being on first team all defense, (despite being a lousy man-to-man defender, A guy who doesn't rebound, block shots or get steals).

....All I'm saying is if it's true as his fans say he can guard all 5 spots, let's see him prove it now, when the team needs him most.

His fans say that but this is an era of no true centers. He might be able to guard Dirk or KD but he can not guard Hibbert down low. It's physically impossible.

Lebron can guard the 5 against a lot of teams but what is he going to do against Hibbert? Players that actually play center can't stop someone that tall with a hook shot. It would be stupid to put Lebron on Hibbert just to prove he can guard him.

Yes it would be dumb. It would drain Lebron. Guarding someone and stopping them is 2 different things. If his assignment was to guard Hibbert he wouldn't do any worse than anyone else on the Heat.

here's the factors. size, strength, and as you alluded to, energy. Hibbert's too big and strong for LBJ on the low block, and he'd expend a LOT of juice trying to slow him down. like i said, not wise...

Brought some of what on himself? He can guard all 5 positions and be pretty effective at it. That doesn't mean he can shut any one player down every time. He cant even stop everyone at the SF position.

Exactly. He gets roasted on a nightly basis by small forwards. Face it, the guy is the most overrated defensive player in league history.

If you had an ounce of basketball acumen you would know that there is no one that can completely shut down an NBA player all the time. The rules are in favor of the offensive player. You can only hope to make it difficult for a player to score.
