I hear that is a good way to attract future talent to the organization...

Honest question.

It amazes me how bad Toronto has been since 1967 the last time they won the Cup.

Player after player from Ontario have become stars in the NHL. What are the main reasons these players don't sign with the Leafs when they become UFA's?

Always being under the microscope is probably one of the major reasons...You can't escape the press in Toronto. You see Ontario guys playing for the Leafs in the twilight of their careers though.

I remember hearing Cammalleri say one of the reasons he chose Montreal over Toronto when he became a UFA was he lives in Toronto in the offseason & didn't want to play their while living their year round.

I know the media can be tough, but don't Ontario kids dream of being that guy who leads the Leafs to the cup anymore?

I've heard Tavares say Gretzky broke his heart in '93.

It's probably similar to how a lot of guys can't handle the pressure of New York when it comes to baseball. Obviously the Yankees can just spend and spend until they are good, but take a look at say the Mets. Countless "All Stars" have come to New York and crumbled under the pressure. Jeff Francoeur was a RF for the Braves and then the Mets and he said the biggest difference was having 4 or 5 reporters at his locker after a game in Atlanta to having 25-30 in New York.

It's just piss poor management right now. If and when they finally get good people back in again (like in the early 90's), they won't have much problem attracting locals. Yeah, the press sucks and is a deterrent somewhat, but I don't think it would be a determining factor if the team was run correctly.

Were you surprised the Leafs took Rielly instead of Grigorenko or Faksa? The Leafs need help at Center in a bad way & they passed on some good ones.

Is it a lock that Burke will go hard after Getzlaf come July 1st if he doesn't sign an extension with the Ducks?

@jonasTSN1050: Said Burke on March 3rd: "Francois Allaire is not going anywhere. I think we have the best goalie coach on the planet."

This Renaud Lavoie email interview with Allaire is something ... Allaire goes off on Burke pretty good (in french)

Hahaha. Allaire says Burke offered him three extensions before July 1. Then Burke said he was out of date after he quit.
