Been home on leave for the past 3 weeks and just got back, should be on more now...now if only we can get some news worth discussing.

I doubt there will be much to discuss until the deadline for signing Darvish passes. He did visit Arlington this week, though that means nothing.

This.

Wanted to add Darvish (if signed) and whoever else...so I just have held off.

That said, I can make a simple one with just the ballpark and a couple players.. . maybe even include back to back AL Champs or something.

IMO, the one we have now (that I made) is a little busy.

Really think we ought to wait until the end of ST. That way the banner and the 2012 season get launched simultaneously. Lots of SportsHoopla ... (ironic) ... that sort of thing.

The idea of installing a newly signed expected TORP (or at least #1) before ST would have resulted in Rich Harden being on the 2010 banner. Not equating RH to YD ... but we ought to be make sure before we imortalize somebody.

Course ... there is that pic of The Captain up there that sort of blows all sorts of holes in my logic.

"Mike Napoli was the Texas Rangers' best hitter last season and perhaps the best hitter in baseball from July through the end of the season. That said, it doesn't appear that the catcher is going to get a multi-year pact this offseason, reports T.R. Sullivan.

Napoli made $5.8 million in 2011 and figures o get a substantial raise, perhaps more than $8 million. "We love Mike and we're not closing the door on anything but right now we are focused on a one-year deal," GM Jon Daniels said.

Napoli will be a free agent after next season without a long-term extension so it appears he'll hit the open market next winter where he's likely to be among the more coveted hitters.
"

Interesting.... then again, they may not want another Feldman debacle on their hands.

WTF? Did Cuban actually get the team behind the scenes? What is with the one year deal and not wanting to pay people? How many catchers have we been through since Pudge left? Nap seems to be a good guy that wants to be here, but you have to pay the man. Give him something like 3/$25M. $8m a year for a good clubhouse guy that can hit and apparently call a good game/play defense is not unheard of. If he goes south then it was only a 3 year deal. Pay the guy, and stop screwing around with Josh as well.

I hope we don't turn into the Rays of the West, where we refuse to pay guys and plan to just keep drafting and scouting. Without the veterans, you don't win it all. With young guys you get people who fold under pressure, and we have seen that two years in a row. Now our guys have the veteran post season knowledge...so keep it.

Maybe he wants 4 years. When you put up 51.7 million just so you can talk to another player you better believe that the guys who have actually contributed to the teams success are going to want a (big) payday, too. Can't say that I blame them or their agents.

Read somewhere that he wants 5 years 75 million, if thats the case, he's the one being unreasonable

4/28 is about what I would do, no more than 4/32

He has to prove last year was more than just a fluke, to get up over 10 per

Sounds like that is what the Rangers thinking is. According to the Dallas MN talks about a long term deal have been shelved in favor of a one year deal.

Sorrry, I didn't see that this had already been posted....

Sounds like both parties are interested in a one year deal, which is a good idea I think. Sounds like JD told Napoli and his agent that if they want that kind of money and years he will need to prove he can perform consistently at that high level. Sounds fair for all parties involved.

Reynolds was the 2nd overall pick in the 2006 Draft,

Tall pitcher (6'7") with sink on his iffy fastball, averaged around 50 groundball rate in the minors though which may project well in Arlington

Excellent changeup projects as a plus pitch

Also throws a curveball

Health may have derailed career: 2 shoulder and 1 elbow surgery as of last year

Mike Adams underwent surgery to repair a minor hernia. The rangers expect him to be a little behind in ST, but expect him to be ready by opening day.

The Rangers are still looking for bullpen help, specifically left-handed, and the club remains interested in Mike Gonzalez according to Rich Durrett of ESPN Dallas. Texas met with the lefty's agent, Scott Boras, at the winter meetings.

The Rangers acquired infielder Brandon Snyder from the Orioles for cash considerations, reports MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan. Snyder, 25, was drafted 13th overall by the Orioles in 2005, a first round that has become legendary for the talent produced.

Was wondering what the plan was for Tracy with the acquisition of Snyder from BAL and resigning of Nelson. Well good luck to him. Tough to be playing in your dad's system ... but rumor is that COL was looking for a RH platoon mate for Todd Helton for 2012 and 2013. Tracy could be the guy. Hits a ton.

Experts believe negotiations will go down to the deadline for Darvish. I have a feeling nothing happens until that deadline for the rangers. Could the 18th get here any slower?

100+ million dollars should get his picture just about anywhere. :eyebrows:
