Bench players tend to play a little better at home.

So, I am thinking the Laker role players will hit a lot more outside shots on the kickouts.

I dont think the Spurs can sweep both games in LA, but as long as they can force a split it shoud be okay.

Lakers look like the are ready to concede. If they lose the next game its not going to be pretty watching the remaining game.

Great point above, Horns, about the Lakers role players shooting better at home, which would naturally open up the paint for Howard and Pau.

The Spurs have been packing the paint, but even if the Lakers role guys aren't hitting shots, I still think the Pau-Howard high-low action needs to be deployed more regularly. It's the best, most effective play we have and I've been lamenting on it all season to no avail. The minute we acquired Howard, that was the first thing I thought of, which makes me realize even further what a complete moron Mike D'Antoni is for taking 70 some games to put it together.

Although give Kawahi Leonard some credit.

His ability to quickly double and sprint back on the shooters is giving the Lakers fits.

He has freakishly long 12 foot wingspans with lightning quick reflexes that are adding a split second doubt in the shooters and Howard.

He is able to double Howard momentarily than get back on the shooters quickly.

It is like he is in both places at once. That is impossible, but the Lakers are sort of letting it happen.

Either Howard has to go up strong earlier or the shooters have to shoot earlier.

Both Howard and the Shooters are letting Kawahi Leonard magically defend them both.

But, god are we happy in Spurs-land. I keep preaching Kawahi Leonard being a future all NBA franchise cornerstone. The nation is getting a little glimpse of the Spurs bright future.

You dont really see how great this kid is (he is the 4th option) on a veteran team.

When the old guys hang them up. He will be making a jump to elite player.

We are hurt in every way possible. Most likely no Nash,Blake, or Meeks next game.....but much credit to the Spurs. They rotate on d and they're also not as injured as they were in the regular season. Parker isn't himself but he's well enough to be average, which is good enough considering our injuries. Also Manu, looks a whole lot better than what was initially reported...but I'd put that on Pop playing bellicheck-type mind games with everyone.

The biggest advantage the Spurs have other than Kobe being out is

Pop > D'Antoni.

Yeah, he caught my eye last year when I was at the Rockets/Spurs game in Houston, I knew then he had what it takes. Amazing how long he flew under the radar, though Pop held him out A LOT this year, like he didn't want anyone to know about him.

Howard doesn't go up strong and early before the double team gets their because he has only two lame post moves. He only backs guys down to get a point blank range bank shot or the little running hook across the paint.

Gasol on the other hand, has an arsenal of post moves and can use both hands to be effective. He should be the featured big in the post while D12 takes on a Rodman like role.

Its such a mismatch that its not even funny...

Pop is my favorite coach of all time, i would take him even over Jackson.

I think everyone agrees, if the Lakers had Kobe, the spurs probably wouldn't have one more than a game this series. Possibly 2. But the lakers losing Kobe, who is not only the best player in the game, but historically the Spurs-killer, has pretty much killed their season.

With Nash out, Blake out, and Meeks, that's pretty much ballgame.

I guess it's fitting the Lakers season ends this way - decimated by injuries, considering that's been the story the entire season. Too bad it had to be this way, a healthy team would've made the finals, no doubt.

Peace!!!!

Sman I keep telling you that your multiple personalities don't count as everyone. Did you get dropped on the head as a baby? If Kobe was playing the Lakers would already be on vacation.

Montsho, give up the attempts at humor. Comedy isn't your thing. Keep the day job.

I'll do the jokes.

peace!!!

Good BSR. Keep posting and get your posts past 40 and a whole new world will open up to you with lots of beneies. You can join the score prediction thread for Game 3 as Vita has started it and I am doing the tabulations. If not, that is cool too seeing that the Lakers may only have 2-3 games left to their season since everyone and their frikin' brother is hurt. It is good you are here.

It looks like it will be going down the drain especially with most of our guards hobbled or just out of commission.

Disappointed in how the bigs(Pau and D12) have not taken their game to another level in Kobe's absence.

I challenge any Kobe hater to tell me that he wouldn't have made a difference seeing how tough it has been to score on the Spurs. Give them credit(Pop mostly) as they've taken away any sort of offensive flow.

It might be time to say "wait till next year" with this MASH unit

Bam, you probably think I'm a Kobe hater or non-appreciator, so I'll respond.

Kobe would have made a huge difference on the offensive end for sure, especially if he were playing smart like I would expect him to do in the playoffs, facilitating and not settling for contested fadeaways or 4- to 6- minute stretches of isolation. I've never doubted his ability, just pointed out the lapses, and I miss him just as much as you do.

But have you seen what the Lakers are suddenly able to do on the defensive end? I think that was a point of contention between you and I previously. If I remember correctly, you were in disbelief that somehow a volume shooter could affect a team's defense. Anything you want to say about that now?

Not a hater but a realist. If Kobe was playing the "right way" he would have made a difference. I think they win against a banged up Spurs team.
