Just another rumor floating around with the others. Based on the rumors, it appears that the Lakers will offer every 2015 free agent a maximum contract!

One thing the article does mention is a good point. If they offer a max to one of these RFA, they tie that money up and risk losing the chance to sign other free agents along with possibly not getting the RFA they offered the contract to. It's a gamble.

Butler would be a great get though. I highly doubt Chicago doesn't match any offer. Same with Kawhi and the Spurs.

Yeah never been a fan of signing a RFA and waiting 7 days hoping their team doesn't match.

I think it's only 3 days, but still, those first few days of free agency are full of action.

Worth it. The Bulls will likely match but any team, not just the Lakers, has to try. I wouldn't even be concerned with the money tie up. It's a pain in most cases, but for a player like Butler or Kawhi Leonard, their talent is worth the wait.

And of course its just "rumors" now. If they came out and officially said it, they'd be nailed for tampering. Why do you think these stories pop up? It's the organization going off record to reporters so the reporters then float the story out there to let players know "hey, we're interested in you. be ready". Every team does this.
