The Lakers are working on rebuilding their frontcourt this draft so that is why the Russell move is being speculated on. Ingram is just another piece of the puzzle but he doesn't solve their center and PF position deficits. We shall see what Mitch and company actually do.

The latest is Russell for Okafor straight-up and possibly a third team to get another top five pick to add both Ingram and Hield.

Not sure why the Lakers want Hield. He's rather one dimensional and we have enough shooters. We need a SF and center.

Randle plays PF......that position is in good hands imo.

BTW.....good to see you, Retro. Among my travels here on tHoop I often see other Laker fans like TJ and a few others but haven't see you much lately. I think I even ventured into a Rams thread.....

Jordan is not a point guard imo. If you have Buddy, why would go after another shooting guard??

He's actually considered a combo guard, so he can run point. If the Luke brings the offense that most expect he will, it won't really matter because it doesn't require a true point guard.

The reason to go after another SG is that you need backups. They would have the option of signing a top tier SG and bringing Hield off the bench or signing a solid SG to backup Hield.

I'd be happy if they traded Russell for both Okafor and the draft pick that lands them Buddy.

Move Clarkson to the PG position, have Buddy come off the bench and try to get a SG in free agency.

I think you're missing the point of Shaqdaddy11's post; Russell to Sixers, Okafor to a third team, pick to the Lakers. Not both Okafor and a pick to the Lakers.

I can't see him playing any point. I think the only reason he's considered a combo guard is his size.

If the Lakers think they need a PG after a (supposed) Russell trade, they can always pursue Conley, Deron, or Jennings in FA.

I would not trade Russell for Hield. He can shoot but that seems to be about it. Russell can shoot and more.

If they are trading down, they need to get a player to go along with the pick.

I wouldn't trade Russell either for Hield for the reason you listed lakersrule. If you listen to the pundits, the Lakers are enamored with Hield because he is a sharp shooter. I say add Ingram and go after a big man in the second.

I agree Ram. Just keep it simple. I hope Maker is there in the second, but I doubt it.

Maker would be a great pick in the second for sure even if he may be a bit of a project.

I don't think Maker makes it to the second round. With a few teams having several 1st rounders, I'd imagine one of them takes a chance with him.

Here is the first shoe to drop in theory. If the Lakers want more top five picks, they are suddenly running out of options according to this mock. Looks as though the Jazz are retooling big time with this trade. Gordon Heyward to the Celtics and cash. The Suns get what they want and the Jazz have a boatload of first round picks in theory.
