BOTSLAYER
You can be anything
The Lakers clearly stated they no longer want Peace (world or otherwise) in LA anymore.
Bad mistake - Metta gave his heart and soul to the team and was a good defender. I hate to see him leave, but D'antoni is totally opposed to his teams playing strong defense. Defense for him is acceptable only after playing to run and shoot
No reason, other then saving money, for the Lakers to amnesty him.
Since money shouldn't be a factor to L.A., you really start to wonder what the Lakers are trying to achieve this season.
I agree with TLf pau is nextNot much to wonder about with Howard Gone - they are looking to save money and tanking the season. I suppose an argument could be made that the Lakers wouldn't play any better without him because he has slowed up considerably, but if they were replacing him with Trevor Ariza, I would be thrilled. This brings their salary down to 70 million which would be only 8 over the salary cap give or take a few small deals. It could be that they are getting ready to deal Pau Gasol from a couple of young bucks that can run and gun though and that would make some sense.

Lakers are tanking so why not save money..Arrest is gone. Where is the defense going to come from. The Lakers are toast

Seems like Kobe's busting his ass off to try to be ready for opening night.
He certainly isn't tanking anything.
Should be another drama filled season in Hollywood.
So where is Artest going now?
truth to tell this is the bottom line. saving money for drawing FA next season. trust me, I HATE the idea of any team tanking(especially one that i'm backing), but the Lakers have no choice but to keep an eye on the bottom line...
So where is Artest going now?
He said Knicks or maybe the Clippers. Anywhere else tries to sign him and he's retiring. Really its Artest so no one really knows for sure.
Speaking of Artest, anyone see the Stephen Jackson interview on Highly Questionable? It's hilarious. Jackson tells the story of being in the locker room after the Malice in the Palace and Artest, completely serious, asks him "You think we'll get into trouble?"![]()
