First Half Analysis Texas looks exactly like a team with:
1) 8 new players on defense
2) zero healthy running backs for this game
3) Heisman quality upperclassman QB, good line, and good receivers

The young bunch of freshmen defenders needs to grow up quickly
For every great negative play and turnover they seem to miss an easy tackle or commit a dumb penalty.

The injured running back problem should only be for one week, but it would suck to play LSU with the backup QB playing as the emergency tailback. I dont know how all 5 running backs are missing at the same time...weird.

Thankfully, Ehlinger looks great. He is making all the right plays, but probably needs to come out soon. If he takes a needless hit it will be a long season. Every time he gets smacked I cringe for a concussion.

1st Half = Texas (B-), La Tech (D+)

Herman will play him with a concussion. You’re fine.

I read the “he needs to come out soon” as a “of the closet” type thing.

I have a feeling that LSU is going to eat Texas alive next week. Despite giving up zero points so far, there looks like a lot of holes in there, but LA Tech is not good enough to take advantage.

LA TECH stat padded the Texas backups in the 4th after falling down 38-0.

Ehlinger is 90% of the team.
When he left after 3 quarters with the huge lead, it was a diffrent looking team.

The season ends if he gets hurt for any period of time.
LSU is going to scheme the entire game around stopping him.

I dont think Texas can win if Sam has anything less than an A game.

How was the pass defense? LSU actually passed the ball non-stop this week which is completely new territory as a Tiger fan. Not a single snap under center. Not sure if this is the new offense completely or if it was a game to put on film and plan on attacking the Horns on the ground.

Texas pass defense was tested to say the least. It was mediocre pass defense.
The Horns shut down the run, so LA Tech went full Texas Tech on every snap....they just stopped running it.

Although about 200 yards came in the 4th quarter when Texas pulled its starters. The Horns had a few 3 and outs with the backup offense and LA Tech passed on every single down including going for it on 4th down every time.

Deep Balls wont work versus Texas, but they are prone to the short passes in space.
Some really shaky tackling on pass plays by the Horns all night long.

Cornerbacks are the weak link on Texas defense, at least after game one. Green had some good things, but overall the CBs looked inexperienced, which they are.

Starters played 3 quarters basically. Took Sam out for fourth quarter. Defense did have a fantastic pick six by Ossai, big guy snagged and was gone down the sideline, but was called back because of a shitty roughing passer call. Two safeties blitzing different angles crashed together and one rolled up into QBs feet. Shitty call
