On paper, the Celtics are much better.

If the Cavs get by them, they will have earned it.

Sneaky part of this deal is that Thomas could actually be even better in Cleveland with a guy like LeBron to take a ton of the defensive pressure off him. Remember, IT was the only guy with real offensive skill in Boston. And he was all NBA 2nd team.

If LeBron lets Isaiah do his thing late in games, the Cavs will be very tough to stop late.
PG- Isiah

C- Horford

Poorly worded, but ya know what I mean

Anyway, yes the Cavs may not be significantly weaker, but the competition (Celtics) should be significantly better

So the combination of the 2, it may take another super human effort on his part

I'll like the Celtics chances a whole lot better if they can find a way to fix the rebounding issue. Lebron is still going to be Lebron, but if the Celtics can address rebounding, it may not matter as much.

As for Lebron haters, I don't think any of them deny how good he is or that he will likely lead them back to the finals, they just won't like it very much.

He's an upgrade, but not a huge one (in his present state).

And giving up Crowder (an underrated asset) and the crown jewel of all draft picks is just suicidal.

You're trying at least 30% too hard right now.

Hypothetically, if the Cavs swapped TT, Shump, and the BKN pick for 1 of:

Marc Gasol
DeAndre Jordan
DeMarcus Cousins

Does that put them on the same tier as the Warriors?

I doubt it. But it does give them a much better shot. Especially Gasol or Boogie.

On surface it seems like the Cavs didn't have the leverage to get this kind of return.

But, in defense of the Celtics... one thing we don't know is what other trade offers were quietly happening.

For example, its possible the Suns upped the ante in what they were offering, requiring the Celtics to strengthen their offer.

On paper, Cousins could make a compelling case.

On paper.

I don't think the salary with Jordan would work. And if they gave up the Brooklyn pick for Gasol, the GM should be fired.

Would have to be Cousins or Gasol, imo. Jordan has very little worth to a championship contender.

It would be a risk for sure. But if the Cavs win the title OR LeBron stays OR the Nets pick falls outside of the top 5... in hindsight it becomes a great move.

There should be a dropoff. Kyrie is the better player but they're still without a doubt favorites in the east

I wouldn't say "without a doubt"

Hayward, Irving, Horford, Smart, Tatum, Brown, Rozier and Morris is a formidable bucket of talent.

If they get meaningful minutes out of Yabusele, that will be huge.

I'm pretty sure another trade is coming. Zizic was supposed to be a cornerstone of the front-court.

Because of his age? I'd take Gasol over Jordan.

Yeah, I read a handful of other posts of your since. You don't do a good job of masking your trolling.

Then I saw your avatar.

I get it.

I'm a celtics fan.

They have class and integrity, unlike that cheating fraudulent team down the road.

But Danny's living off his rep in the 2000s at this point.

One crazy thought that might work, depending on IT's willingness...

Make Derrick Rose the starter and bring IT off the bench. IT would still get more minutes overall, this would just be to align his minutes more with the bench than with LeBron/Love.

Cavs bench scoring has been a big issue, this would solve that and IT would be in basically the same role he had in Boston.

LeBron, Love, Isiah, JR, TT, Rose, Korver, Green, Shumpert, Frye, Jefferson...

Gotta take the Cavs.

Kinda rough thinking about a career .350 shooter as your team's starting shooting guard though.
The number 1 and 2 scoring options are upgraded, imo. Marcus is there for his disruptive defensive skills and intensity. I don't much care about positions.

Amir Johnson was the starter, not Olynyk.

Johnson sucked a bag. Olynyk was a useful bench scorer who struggled with consistency. No big loss. Tatum/Brown will be much better.

A couple of sites say that Baynes will be starter -- and Morris the cunchtime guy in small ball lineup.
