Agreed. Lots of people saying the Celts got slightly worse but I just dont see it.

Crowder was a useful bench guy who was about to get buried behind Hayward, Brown and Tatum.

And anyone who says that Irving isn't a legit upgrade from Thomas just doesn't watch enough basketball.

Just bring some real honesty to the discussion.

Neither Brown nor Tatum was the 3rd best player in their draft.
Brown has come along quite nicely... I'm thrilled that Boston picked him and still has him. He's much more of a sure thing than any future prospect.

Tatum is too early to tell... just like any rookie. He showed nicely in Summer League, for what it's worth.

Cant wait for the Lebron haters to try and defend him going to another NBA Finals while this Cavs team will be clearly weaker than last season

1.) The Cavs are weaker, but not significantly. They are still the odds on favorite to come out of the East.
2.) Why would Lebron haters defend him?

I was just surprised Boston did nothing to acquire a front court player

question-

if you could sign any of these guys long terms- what order would you choose?

1. Jimmy Butler
2. Paul George
3. Kyrie Irving

?

George
Irving a close second
Butler a distant, distant 3rd.

He's an upgrade, but not a huge one (in his present state).

And giving up Crowder (an underrated asset) and the crown jewel of all draft picks is just suicidal.

depends on what subsequent moves Boston makes.

Cavs front court is still a major advantage--- and the Celtics lost their best 2 perimeter defenders in Crowder and Bradley---- who guards LeBron? A 19 year old Tatum? 20 year old Brown?

Those are all good questions.

Marcus Smart can guard him for 20 minutes a night, but he can't do it by himself.

Clearly weaker? How?

I dont love Irving, but he was by far the 2nd best player on the team

We will see how good IT is as Robin there, but Id expect a dropoff

Kind of agree, but I also think Love's role will be elevated. The big 2 is worse, but the big 3 might be better.

Poorly worded, but ya know what I mean

Anyway, yes the Cavs may not be significantly weaker, but the competition (Celtics) should be significantly better

So the combination of the 2, it may take another super human effort on his part

Yeah, I read a handful of other posts of your since. You don't do a good job of masking your trolling.

Then I saw your avatar.

I get it.

Hypothetically, if the Cavs swapped TT, Shump, and the BKN pick for 1 of:

Marc Gasol
DeAndre Jordan
DeMarcus Cousins

Does that put them on the same tier as the Warriors?

There should be a dropoff. Kyrie is the better player but they're still without a doubt favorites in the east

I dunno.

I think the Cavs adding Isiah, Crowder, Rose, and Green- makes them stronger when you consider all they have lost is Kyrie.

We shall see though.

Crowder will be a nice option to guard Hayward--- and LeBron can just float-- play off Marcus Smart and his not so great shooting...or guard Morris- who isnt a huge threat either.

Its one reason why i really like the deal--- Crowder allows LeBron to not have to guard the other teams best wing. He can wreck havoc in passing lanes and conserve energy.

On paper, the Celtics are much better.

If the Cavs get by them, they will have earned it.

Sneaky part of this deal is that Thomas could actually be even better in Cleveland with a guy like LeBron to take a ton of the defensive pressure off him. Remember, IT was the only guy with real offensive skill in Boston. And he was all NBA 2nd team.

If LeBron lets Isaiah do his thing late in games, the Cavs will be very tough to stop late.
