I love today's game but I'm not a fan of the Twitter era. All the leaking, Kyrie, Paul George, etc

Even without twitter, they would have leaked. Only difference is it would have leaked with an article on espn.com instead of a tweet. Same shit

"This is why Irving's declaration of independence isn't a betrayal of LeBron James but an honoring of him. James isn't committed to the Cavaliers' future, and now neither is Irving. James has educated his starry peers: Never lose your leverage. And now Irving gathers his on the way to the door."

Kyrie Irving's trade request isn't a betrayal of LeBron James

Everyone seems to be taking this to mean LeBron is definitely gone.

The reports that LeBron was shocked and devastated makes me think the opposite. Of course its a very real possibility... but I think if LeBron had his mind made up to leave already, he wouldn't care that much about Kyrie requesting a trade.

I think it's more an egocentric thing......"What, you don't want to play with me?"

If you add Kyrie and another player close to his caliber, now were talking. Sadly, I think that's how good the Warriors are.

Hell no. If not for injuries, the Spurs would have gone 6-7 games with the Warriors. Adding Irving? Means that series would be a tossup, possibly leaning in SA's direction..

I disagree. But we will never know.

If softer means less bully ball and hard fouls and smashing into each other, sure. It's also faster paced and more skilled and better passing and more unselfish today. I like today's game better. It's like today has about 10 teams that play like the Showtime Lakers

Also you are as much a dick rider as anyone you just ride different dicks

Bully ball? I bet you are one of those guys at the YMCA that calls a foul when anyone barely touches you. Bully ball

10 teams today that play like the Showtime Lakers? Wow the lack of understanding here is beyond redonk

This is comedy gold here. Man.... the snowflakes these days. Don't even know that a hard foul is perfectly acceptable and part of the physical play in the game of basketball. Intimidation. Something many of these players today have no clue about. Which is why the center position isn't even relevant anymore.

Yeah I'm dick ridin the 80s Showtime Lakers because that's the first game I ever witnessed at the old Forum. No one was like the Showtime Lakers. Also dick ridin the 80s Celtics and those bullies. 90s Bulls why not they were ok and had a guy that could take any game over.

And you can throw in the late 80s Pistons too. Those guys were bullies. I love the game where Bird hit Lambier in the head with the bball. Players were a bit tougher no doubt.

Well are we comparing eras or teams? On paper the Warriors look every bit as good as Chicago. As far as what they're allowed to do defensively now as compared to then, I don't really know how to determine how either team would be playing by the other's rules.

Paper huh

Who would have thought the Lakers short and long term future was looking better than the Cavs......before free agency?

Get out. You love the game today? No way
I think ideally the league meets somewhere in the middle of yesteryear and today in terms of what constitutes a foul, and certainly a tech.

And what I watch/watched with my eyes. Taking out the subtleties of how the game was played back in the fucking 80's and 90's as compare to today. Which doesn't have a thing to do with the talent level of the team.

Not really IMO

You don't see brawls today. You don't really see people getting hammered in the paint. One swing at the head during actually play and you're gone - that's it.

Not Van Gundy hanging on Alonzo's ankle while he's trying to punch LJ

On paper the Chicago Bulls were the best defensive team of all time. 3 of them were in your face 24/7 and Harper was pretty good. I don't think people understand what that does to a jump shooter

Obviously

Yea nobody understands anything but you chief. :thumb:

The Warriors ball movement and shooting would frustrate any defense. They have plenty of shooters to go around.

Haha! That's because this is basketball not WWE. I do think the league calls too many soft techs and flagrants but your comment made me laugh.

"I want to see someone get annihilated!"

No.

Irving does not fit the Spurs style at all. He might actually hurt their offense and he ain't helping the D. Put a ball stopper as a primary option on a team with great ball movement and it usually doesn't work that well.

Also,

It is a rather large assumption to say the series would have gone 6-7. You don't know that.
