"Irving, speaking on Instagram Live, said he is neither pro-vaccine nor anti-vaccine..."

"...I chose to be unvaccinated, and that was my choice, and I would ask you all to just respect that choice."

I guess you are declining to respect his choice.

I choose to respect it.
Did you respect it when in each of the last 3 seasons he just decided he needed a break and didn’t show up to do his job? This is the exact same thing.

He's a lazy person who is looking for an excuse to not do his job. Covid is the reason this time, nothing more.

Not sure if he is lazy or just always looking for attention off the court and fancies himself some sort of deep thinker

No.
That was very odd.
I surprised the teams he plays for put up with it.

But that's a different issue.
He isn't refusing to come to work.
He is refusing to have a drug injected into his body.
Whether you believe that is wise or foolish, it is a choice based on principle.
And there is strong precedent for the right of a healthy competent adult to refuse a medical procedure.

Its not like he is an outlier here.
There are thousands of people refusing the vaccine even under penalty of losing their jobs...nurses, govt. employees, professors, doctors, govt. contractors, teachers, even a college head football coach.

What an odd bridge to collapse under. Is this mamma Irving? Be honest.

That's not my view.
And its not the view of his teammates or the Nets organization.

One could argue a Kaepernick level of resentment.

Now this is a comp that makes sense.

Kyrie is controversial and he makes waves similar to the way that Kaep did. If Kyrie were a replacement level player, Nets would save bye-bye to him and we would never see him play NBA basketball again.

However, he is high end talent, so teams will continue to put up with the circus as long as the production on court is there.

Had the production been there for Kaep, he would still be a starting QB today.

“This is not a political thing; this is not about the NBA, not about any organization. This is about my life and what I am choosing to do,..."
________Kyrie Irving

A man who decided not to inject a drug into his body.
A man who doesn't beg for handouts, but uses his own talent and effort to support himself and his family.
A man who lives within the law.
A man who lives his life the way he believes he should live his life.
A free man.
Despised for exercising his freedom.

He sits, surrounded by resentment.
A resentment as real as the resentment that surrounded Ali.
A resentment as real as the bars that surrounded MLK.

He's selfish, they say, about a man who chooses his conscience over their sports entertainment.

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
_______Mark Twain

Let me guess, you don't feel the same about Kaepernick....

At the time, Ali's stance was not considered principled.
He was considered unserious and selfish...just like Kyrie is today.
That's why Ali was widely despised at the time.

Yet still, Kaepernick stood (or more accurately, didn't) for a worthy cause and lost his career as a result from getting blackballed. Kyrie's stance is one of misinformation and fear and is still getting paid.

Kaep would still be an upgrade over multiple starting QBs in the league yet today.

What I find funny is if Kaep's stance on things was the exact opposite the people that still have issues with him would be calling him a hero.

Okay? And the people who support his stance on things would be criticizing him.

Exactly. Kaepernick is no longer in the league because, at best, he is a backup quality qb. The Nets put up with Kyrie because he is a superstar caliber talent.

If Kaepernick was a star level talent and Kyrie wasn't...Kaepernick would still be in the NFL and Kyrie would be out of the NBA.

Cmon man.

If that were true, he would have a job.

He is No better than Josh Johnson who is a 3rd stronger.

He didn’t get blackballed.

He wasn’t good enough to be starter, and nobody wanted the baggage with their backup QB.
