Former Phillies top prospect Kyle Drabek, son of 1990 National League Cy Young Award winner Doug Drabek, was signed by the Phillies in 2006 after compiling a 30–1 high school record while belting 27 home runs. But the gods were not on his side and he never lived up to the hype.
Drabek had TJ surgery in 2007, then came back in 2009 (12-3, 3.19) at Clearwater and Reading, but was then shipped to Toronto in the Halladay trade. He earned 2010 Eastern League pitcher of the year (14-9), then struggled at Toronto for five years (5.27 ERA, with 118 strikeouts and 111 walks), along with a second TJ in 2012. At 27, he was just claimed off waivers by the White Sox. Don't get any ideas, Ruben.
