Wow, talk about stuck on your own narrative. No one on here is saying Kobe will be "fantastic". We're saying he'll still be good, top 20 in the league, but not the player he was even 4 years ago.

As for being a facilitator, he did it for a lot longer than 3-5 games last year. He did it for much of the season because of Nash being out. I doubt his first instinct will ever be to pass, he's been a shooting guard for his whole career, but I have no doubt that he will do a lot more facilitating than he has in the past. He won't have much choice because even if he were 100% healthy, it would take too much out of him at his age.

What part of every Laker fan I PERSONALLY KNOW don't you understand???

Seriously, the reading comprehension around here is at an all time low. I also didn't say 3-5 games. I said 3 games here, 5 games there.....and NO, it was not much of the season......it was sporadic.

Sure have.

But saying "this year alone" doesn't suggest he was referring to a fiscal year.

Captain Literal strikes again.

Pretty sure most on here understood what he meant. I know I did.

What part of *sigh* gotta love Lakers fans doesn't imply all Lakers fans?

Seriously, the inability of some folks to actually post a coherent and accurate thought on here is at an all-time low.

And I watched every single Lakers game last season and Kobe was in fact a facilitator for much of the season. He had to be because Nash was out almost all season and Blake was in and out of the lineup most of the season.

Never heard of a fiscal year?

what's that?

in all though. we are talking this basketball season. this year 2013-2014 is clearly the first year i saw father time beat kobe bean byrant. it actually saddens me. hopefully he can hold off father time next year and give laker fans a few more kobe moments.

but any laker fan who did defend the contract.. needs to apologize.

So what's the 12mo time period that's considered a year for those who track jersey sales? When does it start and stop?

Or maybe one of the many on here who obviously knew what he meant (according to you) could tell me?

I think this is best for KObe. why risk coming back and getting re injured when your team is out of it already. rest up and get ready for next year

Terribly sorry to confuse those with IQs under 20! Let me alter my statement:

"The lakers have made a $50m profit on Kobe jerseys in the last 12 months"

No problem.

I'm glad you provided the link to back up your claim.....oh wait

Feel free to look it up yourself. The figures are probably larger anyway.

I think I've wasted enough time dumbing myself down for you.

Gotta love someone posting something contradictory and then blaming others.

Do they have English 101 in Texas?

Why should I look it up? You're the one who brought it up, made the claim and said you would provide the link.

It's probably best that you just let it go....

Flauge seemed to get it.

For a professional sports league, it would be the day that they open business for that particular season to the beginning of the following season.

:agree: I was initially thinking that he should come back on limited minutes for about the last 10-15 games just to get some run in before the season ended. But shutting him down for the season seems wise. Let the current injury heal and also maybe some of those nagging injuries that he's been dealing with for years will heal as well.

Why even bring jersey sales into the equation?
Are they splitting royalties with the fans buying the tickets?
Does it make you feel better about watching a terrible NBA roster?

That is even more reason that Kobe shouldn't require to be paid the most NBA salary the next couple seasons IF he truly thinks he should be on any type of contending team, let even alone a team trying to make the playoffs.

If this was MLB, sure, throw the vault at him.
You can't drastically overpay the on court value of a player though if you are operating under a salary cap.
