This post reminds me of ESPN basketball boards.

Absolute stupidity and utterly lacking in context.

i came from the cBS boards. sounds like your trolls were about as bad as ours. you'll recognize the stink of our garbage posters soon enough considering some of 'em followed us here...

Yes, Kobe is very overrated, because his name starts with a "K"

Most people will acknowledge that Kobi is a special player. Now his name begins with K. You could then say he was Special K like in the cereal. Following that same line of reasoning:rollseyes: would that also make him a flake?

The "Kobe is overrated" trend all stems from the Kobe-Jordan comparisons. These conversations were initiated by the media and fueled by the Kobe trolls during the Lakers three peat.

During the early 2000s, a lot of the younger generation Kobe fans were really persistent in proclaiming Kobe as the next Jordan. Some even went as far as saying Kobe was already better than Jordan.

This did not bode well with the Jordan die hards and the old school nba heads...as a result the war of numbers and statistics began as the Jordan die hards quickly dismissed any Kobe>Jordan claims by refuting them with Jordan's numbers and accomplishments

Now...any general NBA fan seeing this would go wow...Kobe is so overrated...he's nowhere near as good as Jordan. Look at the fg percentage. Look at the career ppg. Look at the MVPs, Rings, Finals MVPs. Wow look at Jordan's ast, reb, stls and all around game compared to Kobe.

And thus...it became a very popular thing to say that Kobe was "overrated."

But if you really think about it...if you compare any player to Jordan...they're going to come off looking overrated...

So is Kobe really overrated? No way. Kobe is one of the most accomplished players in NBA history. If he would've never won those two rings as the lead guy...there may be an argument for it...but he's proven himself and cemented his place in history.

When the other Heat fans on this board see this, you are going to be in biiiiiiiig trouble!! You have strayed way off of the Heat reservation with this post!!

They might pull your Heat fan card!!

Seriously though, good post and well stated!! To be fair re: the MJ/Kobe comparisons, Kobe fueled some of it earlier in his career by stating that he wanted to be considered better than MJ and by copying so much of his game and mannerisms!!

As he's gotten older, he's moved away from much of that, but he did "feed the monster" in his younger days!!

Not all Heat fans.
My opinion on this thread was that Kobe was one of the best, most fun to watch players of all time.

Haha don't get me wrong...I'll be the first to admit that I root for Kobe to shoot 3-20 every game...but even as someone who roots against Kobe...I'm an NBA fan first and you just gotta acknowledge greatness and respect the kind of impact he has brought to the game.

What's great about Kobe is he always took the big shot and never shyed away. Unlike Lebron who has repeatedly not wanted the pressure and has either hid in the corner with the pressure on, or come up dreadfully short.

Lebron did make a great move going to a team STACKED with Superstars and great shooters. Now when he puts up bricks with the season on the line, he can be saved by guys like Ray Allen. Props to Lebron for surrounding himself with superstars........

I hear ya!! I'm the same way re: Lebron!! I always root against him, but have no problem admitting he's the best in the game right now!!
