Kobe's response was to call them a "bunch of idiots" on twitter.

I can see it both ways. I think a strong argument can be made even after all the recent injuries the dude is better than AI. I can also see the argument that the injuries and age have forced his value this low. If he is only #40 in the NBA, he is the most overpaid athlete ever ever (based of talent, not marketability).

Listing players preseason rankings is a step above stupidity in as far as pre season rankings for NCAA football and basketball.

Once again the few bandwagon Heat fans that are still around and havent become Cavs fans quite yet just cant wait to bash Kobe. Last time I saw Wade play he looked like an old man as well. 16 and counting. Just saying.

Disagree. You have to keep Kobe's name in it because he has shown a pretty amazing ability to come back from/play through injuries.

While I agree that these last 2 may finally be one's that he can't come back from/play through (especially at 36), it would be pretty foolish to bet against him based on what he's shown throughout his career.

Also, 27 points in 28 minutes the other night (yes, I understand it's pre-season), looks pretty good for a 36 year old, especially coming off those types of injuries.

As a Lakers fan, I'm more concerned about whether or not he can stay healthy for the whole season than I am about how well he performs when he's on the floor.

Dude.. you may need to look up the word "bash." No one is bashing Kobe. I am just discussing his ESPN rank of 40. No one is saying anything negative. Get a grip.

Personally, I would have ranked Kobe a little higher. 25-30 range.

IMO, chances are that if Lakers losses are quickly adding up, then Kobe (as long as healthy) will rack up a ton of points/shots.

Ring #6 might be in the far distance, but all time scoring leader isn't.

The point is, he is coming back from two major injuries and is 36. It may not be efficient all the time, but it will be great if he can put up 27 points in his situation.
