Or. How logic and tlance and the rest are leaving this alone

Leaving what alone?

Maybe the Knicks hire Mike Malone who is an excellent coach and a proven winner.

I don’t expect him to fare better than Thibs did.

Hire anyone else and most likely it is a downgrade.

Good luck.

You guys are the most insightful/analytical fans, so how is it you don’t bring up that Thibs has now coached 2 teams to 50 game winning seasons and has been fired by both..

He can’t get it done , there’s a very short window of opportunity, esp with an org that hasn’t won in 50 years …

get it done

99% of all coaches get fired eventually.

Doesn’t mean it is the right move.

Let’s see who they hire to replace him.

The more I think about it, has Thibs developed one rookie for the Knicks in the past five years? Plus, you just can't have your starting five play the amount of minutes per game and not expect a let down/breakdown by playoff time. I like him as a coach, but we need more depth and a coach willing to use that depth.

Miles McBride

Also, that is not really a fair criticism because they have traded almost all of their draft picks since 2020.

Plus your team has to have depth and not be injured to not play your starters a lot of minutes if you want to win.

How can you say you need more depth and then turn around and say the coach plays his starters too much? How else do you try to win if you don’t have depth?

This year they finally had some depth but had rotating injury issues with one player or another that limited their use.

Personally, I would have given Thibs another year of working with the same core of guys, hope for better health, and seen in they could get further. But the Knicks clearly felt it was time to move, maybe because Malone and his championship in hand is available now. Coaches who have won it all aren’t available often.

Dumb move.. desperate organization. Can’t accept knocking on the door when the last 18 years they’ve been anemic. They could easily make a run next year.. but this will disrupt things likely

I feel for Thibs very much

The guy has given his life to the game

Never married, no kids.

But you would think in knowing this that he’d be a wizard of the game.

He will be missed. Thanks Mr thibs!!!!

I guess the future may tell how much of a wizard of the game he was in New York.
It will take a great coach to get this team to push further than he made it.

How many coaches have the Knicks alone fired since their last championship?

He was given 5 years in Chicago, had a 62 win season , great record, no ring

He was given 3 in minn not so good record , no ring

Knicks 5 years , good record , no ring

His track record really isn’t that great considering all
