And he has done a terrible job at finding GMs that have any type of plan.
No question...but it's not Dolan personally. which is where I think Pasta's head is at.

That is not the point I am making .

Hypothetically speaking , if Dolan could offer that amount you’re telling me Durant wouldn’t sign here cause of Dolan ?

If Dolan could offer Durant twice what anyone else could, then of course he would sign in NY.

But Dolan has to follow the same rules as everyone else.

And his team never seems to be in position to take advantage of the rules to build a winner.

That is on him.

I completely understand what you all are posting, but you can’t tell me that his people, not Dolan , his people did not have the resources to bring in a superstar. EVER?

What about the year they signed 10 forwards ? Lol. Cmon man.

Let’s try and use some Common Sense here. Please

NY will never be a rebuild town and you know it.

What makes you think NY will ever be a championship town again? It will be 50 years since their last when the finals roll around this season, and 23 years since their last finals appearance. Their last two finals were under Riley and Van Gundy. Two of their top 3 coaches in their history (by winning percentage), neither got a title or is coming back (all prior to Dolan). Their most successful coach since? Mike Woodson.

NBA teams win one of two ways; bottom out and build with draft picks or obtain a superstar or 2 via free agency or trade.

If the Knicks could field a true contender, a top free agent would come. NYC has a big spotlight to shine on a star. The right front office needs to be in place to get that right roster. Dolan is responsible to hire that front office.

Who hired his people?
How many stupid azz questions can be asked here?

He hired what was available to not only him but to every other owner who also signed them at one point in their career, as well as the players who have had success before they played for the Knicks and after they left here to go on to other teams . For some reason HERE, New York, where nothing goes right for mgmt or player.

Yes there has to be a common denominator…. The pressure of playing in NY. Or that Dolan is one of the unluckiest .

Now , he owns to major sports teams , one has success the other does not. Both have very similar blueprints.

Which leads me to think that not only is there not much of qualified basketball people in the NBA, clearly the pressure of playing here cannot be overcome.

Here you go again with the similar blueprints for different sports. Just because you say it doesn’t make it true.

Also, you have said that championships equal success. 1994 was a long time ago, pre-Dolan I believe. So what are you defining as success for hockey.

And lastly, if it were Dolan just having bad luck it would not be so consistent for 20 years. That’s not luck, that’s time to look in the mirror.

Not even Phil Jackson could fix the dysfunction with the Knicks. Now who do you think hired him? It was Dolan. The Knicks will be jinxed as long as he owns them.

Ask yourself, how many other teams have not been able to field a team that was considered a viable contender even once Dolans tenure. The list is very short and composed of only the worst run teams with bad owners. Yet we are not supposed to consider Dolan a bad owner

That’s because Dolan hired a coach who had success when handed the best players as a GM instead of a person who actually got the best players.

I just think pasta's bizarre takes on the current state of the Knicks is good entertainment.

And the blue prints in the eyes of the Dolan family for both , NHL and NBA are very similar, hire a good GM , good staff, good scouting, superstar and support for that superstar.

Knicks have not had a superstar since Ewing. The rangers have a good GM good staff , good coach, superstars and support.

Y’all got it so much in your mind that they are SO completely different from each other is INSANE

Basketball operations

Hockey operations

You telling me that the goals and what they are trying to achieve of GMs for both and all the personnel beneath them aren’t the same?

Da fuck!?!? If you believe that you're truly dumber than I thought.

Jackson was brought in to turn the Knicks around. And even he couldn't that. Maybe someday you'll finally wake up and realize that through all the changes the Knicks have gone through the only thing that's stayed the same is ownership.

But in your goofy world Dolan isn't the problem.

There is nothing at all unlucky about what the Knicks have done.

They have a Mediocre roster.

So they choose to resign RJ Barrett to a big contract and go hard after Jalen Brunson so they could over pay him.

He is good, makes them better.

But not nearly enough.

So now, the Knicks going to end up in a play in game and they have a ton of future cap tied to role player caliber guys.

So no chance they can actually sign the difference maker they lack.

It is the mistake they keep making over and over again.

That isn’t bad luck, it is stupidity.

Well, clearly they didn’t have one.

That is one of many reasons why he failed.
