I kind of agree with you. I would still give Cousins another 5-6 starts to see if he can get rid of bad habits. However - if he is still INT happy & the team is not winning games - really what is the pt of continuing to start him?

By that time the Redskins will be out of any playoff talk (which they really should not be part of at this pt), Cousins will have had 4 years and about 20 starts under his belt & the likelihood of him eliminating his bad habits will be pretty slim. This is not about who you like and who you dislike - it is about a realistic approach to the seasons ahead. McCoy could at least show if he should be retained as a backup & the team could then focus on the strengths/weaknesses of others.

I'd give Cousins 1, maybe 2 more starts. McCoy is less likely to make mistakes and is more conservative but they don't need Cousins trying to be Favre.

Much as U would love to hate on the Redskins QB situation, Sam Bradford right now is making me yearn for the Sanchize.

Really - beyond a few elite QBs in this league has the NFL ever been lower in terms of quality QB play then at this time? You can name the truly effective, quality NFL QBs who are healthy on one hand.

Just a thought, no matter who was going to play QB this year they were going to be a run based team that relied on D so NONE of the QBs had to win the games. So all that leaves is if Cousins (via TOs) is costing you losses than the coaching staff would probably think of replacing him.

I also wonder if folks just say someone's name and don't do the research. In 25 games Colt has 23 INTs and 18 fumbles so it isn't exactly like he isn't Mr. TO too. Griffin in 37 games has 23 INTS and 32 fumbles and Cousins in 17 games has 23 INTs and 7 fumbles. Sacks Griffin 101, McCoy 76 and Cousins 20. Which of these three isn't TO prone? Sack prone? :noidea: Looks to me like they all play loose with the ball.

First of all - just speaking for myself - I am not suggesting that any of the backups get the starting job at this time. However - after a another month & a half or so if the Redskins season is lost & Cousins is not producing then why not give McCoy a shot? RG3 may be another matter due to his contract.

If Cousins issues were strictly related to INTs then I would view this a little differently. It goes well beyond that. If Cousins still had the 2 picks the other night yet produced otherwise the game might have been a bit different. He missed several open receivers throughout the night. I have always stated that he lacks the ability to come through in the clutch & really has not shown much evidence that he has overcome this flaw.

Again - you can't simply rely on the run in this era. If you can only succeed in this manner than teams are going to stack the line so a QB needs to overcome this at critical times. You also cannot waste valuable weapons like Jackson and Reed. Lets be honest - Cousins just has not shown that he is NFL starting QB to date. He needs to prove that he can overcome his flaws in the next few months or else he might be relegated to clipboard duty for most of his remaining career.

Now McCoy is injured in spite of not even playing yet in a regular season game. Oh well.

We will know the extent of the injury tomorrow. Hopefully nothing major.

I hope so since if McCoy is out for a significant period of time you know that the media will have a field day with this because of you know who.

You have written a number of posts but I can't figure out who you want to start. Mind telling us?

I've answered this question numerous times before, but here goes. I personally believe that there is a plan in place right now designed to help correct Griffins deficiencies. This is being done to either correct the original sin of starting him........or........assuring all involved that he doesn't go elsewhere and further embarrassing the organization by becoming more than he is currently viewed to be. It is after all the biggest fear of every fan of this team when it come to his going elsewhere. What other explanation is there as to why he is still here?

Specifically to your question, the current rotation should be, Kirk...........Colt and back to Kirk as necessary. If I'm correct about Griffin he should not see the field at all this year, more important, will shed that 16 million anchor next year sometimes and be only offered a limited "show us what you've learned" contract.

Its not the fear of this fan. It may be Snyder's fear, but if it were up to me. I'd have already cut this albatross.

It seems to me that RG3 has not been given the same opportunity in THIS offense that Cousins has. It also seems to me that people are willing to wait for improvement from Kirk but unwilling to wait for the same from RG3. I think they both suck monkey balls, but there seems to be a double standard here.

All I can saw is WOW. For the sake of argument, let's say I agree with you. Why do you think gruden has a double standard? What could possibly be the motivation?

RGME has burned his bridges in DC. There is no repairing the relationships.

Someone wrote on another thread......."In the NFL, winning cures almost everything!"

He was handed the job in February when he clearly didn't earn it. He was handed the job the year before as well. He has been given every opportunity to succeed with 2 different staffs. And let's not forget the reason this current coach with THIS offense is here is because Robert Griffin successfully campaigned to get the only coach who got him to play well fired. So they hired a coach who ran a system Griffin insisted on playing. And he failed miserably, not even grasping the basics.

That's hardly a double standard. He has been handed the job on a platter several times but just couldn't produce.

Totally disagree guys, DC's best option at this point is to make damned sure that absolutely nothing can be done to properly train him, once honestly and thoroughly convinced that he has no value anywhere else, let him go.

So what do you pay him next season to keep him here?

And why?
