Tell me I'm not the only one who likes Kiper and detests Mayock?

On draft day, I watch ESPN.

I actually think McShay knows more than both but Im definitely in the minority opinion there

This.

Kiper just regurgitates what he hears from his sources IMO.

Mayock lost some cred' when he ranked Mack as the #1 overall prospect ahead of Clowney IMO.

I agree with niner sickness about Kiper. I don't think anything he says are his own thoughts but thoughts of others.

How are you sure that some teams boards don't already haver Mack rated over Clowney?

I think Clowney is a huge risk, you have to question is heart, and his desire to take it to the next level, is he looking for one good pay day then being average the rest of his career?

McShay owns them all. Especially when you factor in the stories about him partying and such. My favorite is he apparently partied all night, was hungover the next day and was going to miss his flight if he took the time to return his rental car. So he just abandoned his rental car in a lot with a note that said "please return to National". Baller move right there.

I like Mayock. Way more respected than Kiper.
Mayock played the game. Not that that is everything.
Mayock was right about RW.

Mayock is the only one who does what everyone wishes every tv sports guy would do. He explains himself and the situation with no doubt about whats going on. He's the most professional football mind on tv as of now.

"the most professional football mind"

Sounds just like something Mayock would say.

"This guy's football speed is quicker than fast."

This is a reasonable statement to make, to me.

McShay>Mayock>Kiper

I do like Mayock in the booth, too.

:agree:

But between Mayock & Kiper… It's like comparing to steamy turds and trying to decide which one smells better

How could you disagree with this haircut?

People love to blast draft analysts, but they're all the same with little variation between them. They all know their shit but when you're scouting some 250 players you're obviously going to get some wrong from time to time.

They both come at you with two different views on a player, sometimes Maylock can get on your nerves when someone doesn't agree with him, its a toss up really in my eyes....

I've always respected Kiper but obviously I'm in the minority because it seems that my buddies think he's a joke too. I just get the overwhelming sense that NFL Networks randomly chose Mayock and decided to start promoting him as an expert. As much as I like Brad Nessler, it got to the point where the Thursday Night Football games were watched on mute in my house because Mayock makes my skin crawl. I literally dislike that guy about half as much as Costas or Olberman, which is outright hatred. I despise the way Mayock would come up with a new catchphrase or word each week and wear the hell out of it. Something like "juxtaposition" or "quicker than fast" or one week he said "this is such a fun football game" at least half a dozen times.

How can you guys not find this clown to be uber-obnoxious?! :gaah:

Concern, yes, but not overly so.

My take on Clowney. Coming off of his big bowl presence in '13, he was already being anointed the #1 overall talent in this draft and he still had a season to play. You have to know some agent type got to him and told him you just need to get thru this season healthy and you're a top pick. Seriously...what would you do?

I know I would've done the same thing...made sure I was healthy coming into this draft.

On the money part...the best thing the league did was re-work the rookie salaries into the CBA...the top salary in 2013 was 4/22/16.5g. That's still a nice chunk of change, enough to be a 1 contract guy and be okay...but nowhere near the money those guys were getting before. The point is the financial risk has been reduced a lot.

I wouldn't trade up for Clowney because this draft has several impact players in it, but I wouldn't fear taking him 1 thru 6.
