I don't think too many people expected us to blow them up. I'm actually satisfied with the offenses performance. They put 133 rushing yards up and had to attempt just 20 passes. The two picks were ugly, but you have to tip your cap to the Bills D. The only sour taste I have is the defense letting up late, the way they always do. That shit is getting old. To have controlled the scoreboard the whole game and still allow it to come down to an onside kick is inexcusable. Del Rio needs to keep the foot on the gas until the clock reads 0:00.

Bummer the Broncos couldn't get an assist from the Chargers tonight. But there is still good news with the Patriots winning, and that is the Broncos now have a 2 game lead in the AFC West. I'd rather have the #1 position and a 1 game lead, but I'll take the #2 position and a 2 game lead as well.

The Broncos clinch the AFC West with a win next week. Even with a loss, the Chargers would improve to 9-5 and the Broncos fall to 10-4. The Broncos would be 4-1 in the AFC West with the Chargers sitting at 3-2. So it is going to be very hard for them to upset the Broncos for the AFC West title at this point.

You see, what did I tell you guys about Orton playing like a women? There was that play where all he needed was 2 more yards for the first down, but he went in that slide like a COWARD. Rich Gannon criticized him for that during the broadcast. Orton plays like a women. How can anyone deny that??

Yeah, it looked in the first half like SD might pull the upset. Pats defense was really strong in the second half, though. I think NE is likely to win out, denying us of a chance at reclaiming the top-seed again.

Can't worry too much about what other teams do, though. Just have to get healthier and better and win the games we play.

The Offense playing way too conservative has almost let Buffalo back into this game.

I'm sorry but the playcalling has sucked in the 2nd half. Instead of closing Buffalo out Denver seems happy to just go 3 and out and take a few minutes off the clock and that is unacceptable.

I also thought this approach the last 6-7 minutes was garbage. We need to step on throats when we have the chance. We always seem to go the other route and play soft, and inevitably the other team claws back into it. All too familiar...

Anybody see that there is now controversy because a Bills player thinks the refs were working against them in the Bronco game as the fist bumped after Anderson scored a touchdown?

Anyway we grinded out another victory. This one had the looks of a trap game sandwiched right between two very pivotal division games but Broncos handled their business. They gave up some chunk yards but other than a couple of late touchdowns the defense looked stout. The run defense has me a bit concerned ever since Irving went out with injury we don't seem to be just dominating the run game as much on defense but I think yesterday it was more just about some missed tackled that really cost us some chunk yards.

Also not a big fan of us sticking Roby on a team's #1 receiver. Why in the world do we pay Talib the money that we do plus have the top rated corner in the NFL yet we then go and stick our rookie on Watkins for a good chunk of the game? I love Roby and how he is playing this season and it is great that they trust him so much but to me have him learn the game covering a #3 receiver while you let your big name guys cover the top guys. Just a little issue I have.

Again can't complain too much about the defense when really they held the Bills to 3 points other than some prevent defense that they gave up. Plus causing 3 turnovers always looks good and the DL once again looked pretty darn good getting after Orton. I will say Orton had a couple of moves in this one to avoid sacks that I never saw when he played with the Broncos.

Offensively that is the most points the Bills have given up since week 6 so really we should have known we were in for a dog fight on that side of the ball. They are a great defensive unit and that is definitely the best DL by a wide margin in my opinion that we have played all season. Yet the Broncos kept Manning clean the whole game and we did pretty decent in the run game getting 3 goal line touchdowns (haven't done much of that this season), and averaging 4.6 yards per carry and getting 133 yards. We are slowly climbing the ranks to become one of the top-5 rushing teams in the NFL. This is the type of offense that can go into Foxboro and find a way to win.

Just thinking out loud here as there is still quite a bit of season left but here is what I picture now for the playoffs...

Rankings...
1) New England
2) Denver
3) Indy
4) Cincinnati
5) Pittsburgh
6) Baltimore

I think Baltimore could be one of the more dangerous teams come playoff time. They will get Ngata back for the playoffs if they make it so I actually think they would go into Indy and win. Then that would mean they would be playing New England in the Divisional Round and to me there has been no better team at beating New England than that of Baltimore. Plus what better thing to happen than to get revenge on Baltimore or New England for some bad losses.

Now given like I said there is a lot of season left to play so we have no clue how this will all finish.

Couple of thoughts to add to this. Given what I saw yesterday, I would not be surprised if the dolphins or bills gave the patriots fits. Not saying it will happen but it would not be surprising. Seeing what the chargers did last night, I think the patriots are more beatable than they were.

I think getting our D to play angry and having the offense click in both the run and passing will make the broncos a team to reckon with. We have seen their potential in each phase, putting it together good be scary.

To everyone complaining about the defense letting teams back into games late, have you ever thought that maybe Denver is willing to concede yards for time? Why risk going after a big play when you can force the offense to make long drives the length of the field?

Here's a list of teams that this strategy has worked against this season:
Colts
Chiefs
Jets
Chargers
Dolphins
Chiefs
Bills

Here's a list of teams it failed against:

I beg to differ on your Baltimore analogy vs. n.england,......clearly n.england is the better team this year vs. Baltimore,.......not taking them lightly, but if we did face them I see a one sided game aka = pats victory.

I will say the nice thing is the Patriots do have to play 3 very hard hitting defenses before the playoffs. Maybe tender them up a bit before they get to the big dance.

My biggest worry for the Broncos is we seem to be playing pretty well on both sides of the ball. We seem to need that wake up call every once in a while though that reminds us that we are beatable and have to give it our all. Just hoping we don't get into that mindset again. We saw what happened against St. Louis (although they might be playing the best football of any team in the NFL right now).

Bronco fans and Patriot fans said the exact same thing just a couple of years ago to then have to watch the Ravens go on to win the Super Bowl. They have a defense that is clicking and will get one of their best pieces back in the playoffs in Ngata. They have an offense that can beat you different ways. They have a quarterback that does seem to elevate his game in the playoffs. They are probably the one borderline team for the playoffs that I just don't want to play.

Never say never. Seen too many times the Broncos were favored to win and see them fall flat on their face. yet other times they were big time underdogs and somehow pull out the victory.

You definitely make a good point. It's really only when the conservative, "prevent" style of defense actually prevents a team from winning that it should be called into question.

I understand why they do it. I've always been by the mindset though of if it ain't broke don't fix it. In all those games the defense was playing lights out to then give the other team a glimmer of hope late. Yes they have all ended in victory but to me either way you do it of continuing to play aggressive or go into prevent you are taking a chance. In prevent you are giving them a chance to get into a rhythm and put up some easier points. Yes it uses up time but in all those games they went from 2-3 possession games to 1 possession almost by the end.

As long as it keeps ending in victory hard to be mad about it but still just not my favorite to see the team do that. I mean in most of those games we would have held our opponent to 10 points or less. Just would love to see this defense get that chance to show for a full 4 quarters what they can do to a team.

Plus it was Orton...I would have loved to seen him a few more times getting knocked around.

Also just a quick question...Does anybody else think Manning is having a bit of trouble adjusting to our new mindset on offense? He seems to be forcing a few more throws in knowing he isn't going to get the chances that he usually gets. I'm just hoping he and the passing offense can get it figured out because these turnovers just cannot happen in the playoffs.
